don't get me wrong i am really glad to be rid of the dlc bug, but now the game only allows me 1 companion. originally i thought this was tied to the fact that my char had a charisma of 1 but when i replayed with a 10 in charisma it still told me that my party was too full with only 1 companion. Before i Had my saves corrupted i know for a fact that I had 2 companions w me. Can anyone explain why or is this just another bug in an already infested game?

It should be that you can have one humanoid companion (Boone, Cass, Veronica, Raul, Lily) and or one non-humanoid companion (Ed-E, Rex).
