#1 you put this in the wrong place. This is dic discussion!!!!!!!!
This needed to go in nv general or fallout series discussion.

You didn t need that many mini nukes in 3, and believe me you will not need any in fo nv. They r just a novelty........

I wouldn't call it a 'novelty' if you're an explosives guy you 'may' find it useful in the final assault. It won't however come in handy as a regular weapon.. Too slow to get Cazadores. (Unless you can surprise them all) Not really needed against anything else. Cazadores seem to be the apex predator in this game tbh. If you set up fights in the Thorn Cazadores almost always win. It's not even because they drained their opponents HP either, one hit-poison seems to simply guarantee the win. Even against the mighty Deathclaws. (Try it, the Deathclaw will have plenty of HP left but will fall anyway)

As for trying to use the Fatman against anything else in NV, well simply put, there 'aren't any large congregations of enemies that would make this weapon useful... At all...

It has 325 damage. Which means it can't completely obliterate the tougher deathclaws, even at 100 skill and with optimal maintainence.

It, along with the rest of Explosives, has been overnerfed. Combine with the over-scarce-ification of its ammo, the Fat Man is effectively pointless. Even moreso in hardcoe, where the weigh 5 WUs apiece. For that amount of weight, and that amount of cap value per shot, I expected a lot more bang.

If it had the power to obliterate the quarry junction deathclaws, it might have been useful. But it doesn't. It's a sad state of balancing affairs when it's more effective to go through punching them with a shotgun fist or taking a gauss or anti-mat rifle to their skulls than to nuke 'em (note I said effective, not efficient).

Heck, even the Little Boy weight reduction mod is bugged and doesn't work. No, the weight readout in the item screen is lying. Drop it and compare your total pack weight before and after.

It went from Game Breaker in FO3 to Absolutely Useless in FONV.

Small cheap explosives that you carry lots of (like dynamite and frag grenades), I can see the point of making them a bit weak. But the expensive explosives? Body parts should fly very readily when they're used. Otherwise they're cap value to combat utility ratio renders them useless.

Fatmen are almost useless against deathclaws, because by the time you've fired it they've run out of blast-range anyway (and are probably already eating you). Doesn't do them much damage, either.

I'd save it for the final battle and lob them at legion camps

Thats what I was trying to get at in my post lol. Could be useful for the dam.. So not just a novelty, just not a 'must have' weapon either...

Frag grenades need a bit more bang. Only really good for crippling legs.

dynamite is fine but rediculous to hit something without VATS.

Mini-Nukes either need to be rediculous death machines or like they are but you can buy them.

Not much use on dam. 100% chance to hit ally, and there are no large enemy groups, and 2-3 is not a target for nuke.

Depends on how quick you are and which ally you have/how close you set him/her.

I can think of at least 2-3 instances where lobbing a mini-nuke would be handy.. When the legion pop's out of the towers, just before you reach the midway point, just after the Enclave arrive.. Lob one straight at Lanius... You just need better control of your 'friends'..

I found the same problem a few weeks ago with my explosives character. The weapons designed to be end game for explosives end up being almost useless. The Grenade MG & Fat Man are both incredibly nerfed. If i am shooting a miniature nuke, then the enemy should be obliterated. A regular missile does aprox. 220 damage vs. a mini-nuke which does aprox. 335 damage. A mini-nuke should do at least double the damage, if not triple. Yes, it may be "godly" but shouldn't it be? There's barely any ammo for this weapon anyway, so the ammo that is available should pack a punch. Lore-wise i can understand the lack of mini-nukes, but i simply can't understand why they're so weak. However, explosives as a whole needs a revamp, because almost all of the weapons are incredibly nerfed. I am hoping the upcoming patch will be fixing the explosive weaponry, because at this point focusing on explosives is a very illogical choice.

This is probably the best option, and even though I don't have the 100 explosive neccessary to use it properly I think I'd prefer the second choice tbh.

when you're in the Legion camp you could fire them up the hill at silver-mask before you even get to him, give you a fighting chance

There is an easy way to get more mini nukes, I have ~40 now just in case they bring back the Experimental MIRV.

There are 6-7 boomers that are working the crops just south of the Nellis Array, one of these boomers carries 3 mini nukes and a Fatman, try to kill him before he gets a chance to fire it or he'll have less ammo on him. They respawn every 3 days and you can collect these infinitely. You can probably pickpocket them as well but with the boomers being close together it's hard to get [hidden], probably easier to get them at night.

Yeah, pickpocketting them is HARD, I've actually never been able to do it yet and I can get max Sneak without using a SB, just Assassin suit.... Killing them isn't an option for me either. Everyone loves me and I intend to keep it that way lol
Even when they go to bed I haven't been able to pickpocket her, it's like she's psychic or something...

the "final boss" is rubbish anyway. When you get over the dam, into the legion camp, there should be dozens of hard legionaries to fight. I had more of a battle in Vault 3. Talk about anticlimix

Agreed, they should hire those Vault Dwellers to protect the dam. Noone would 'F' with them then...

(Edit - Thought you said Vault 34. My bad)

Never had a problem with Vault 3 though, weird.
