why people were dissapointed

Well over all and has allready been said, the game did not even have 1 full day worth of game play in it. On the up side how ever the game play and the graphics are the best i have seen , but for 21.5 gig of game installed on the hard drive we expected a lot more, the cmapaign missions were short lived and repetitive , go to an area shoot a few mutants collect an object and then go do it in another area, for so many reasons the multiplayer was a massive let down and lacked the usual multiplayer modes with no first person shooter multiplayer , that which is what the Quake team are best known for. I had been looking forward to this game after reading all the reviews and seeing the trailers thinking wow there if finally a next gen game on the way, but I guess that the time was not well spent in the think tank , look at games like C.O.D, Battle field etc... most people come online to compete in multiplayer action and do battle sufficed to say there is so much more that I would have like to see in Rage . I can think of at least half a dozen options that these guys could have ran with but for some reason decided not to resulting in most copies of Rage being returned with in the first week of buying the game. If they are going to get people to beta test these games then why not get people like myself with a lot of gaming experience to give honest feed back and not some noobs that just sit there druel over the graphics and go wow this looks awesome. As for games like this wanting to go in new directions that are very memory hungry, gaming developers might want to loo at using USB flash drive devices to be provided with the game in order to cope with that larger capacity required to create and run the game given the limited consoles we have to run t games like this as the consoles are definately not next gen.

The game's strong points (visuals, animation, fluidity, gunplay, animations, AI) are very good, but it has too many negative aspects. The game doesn't feel like an epic game that has been in development for many years, it feels like a project that started with a lot of ambition, but was chopped up and rushed. The end result is a very divisive game, that feels incomplete. But the foundation is very strong, and hopefully Id releases quality DLC that will keep the community interested in Rage 2, which would probably be released during the next console generation and won't be held back by current limitations.

Thanks for reiterating everything I just said but I am glad that you agree, there is room for improvement.

And thank you for the attitude, my bad for assuming it was a discussion, and not some type of blog post.

I think rage sets new ground for game development, design, and utilization of hardware for graphics and gameplay. This game also takes advantage of character animation and flexibility to make the ai more challenging and realistic. ID proved to the industry that FPS's aren't just going to be squared in detail, what a better way to show detailed graphics by setting the story in a wasteland armageddon. In a nutshell, I think of rage as a really fun benchmark for a new and powerful engine.

I agree for sue, like I said the game play and the graphics are second to none, the best I have seen yet and yes the game was fun , but also lacked in a few areas as well, for 21.5 gig we are realisticaly expecting a lot more in the cmapaign and multiplayer modes, once completed there was really nothing else left to do with the game but return it.
