why sell it

Why do companys put a product on the market when its faulty, obviously for the money.back in the iron age a consumer protection act prevented such things from happening.i feel sorry for those of us who don't have broadband connection and therefore can't download the patches.shame on the companys responsible, high time in this so called democracy that these issues were resolved.still nevermind,it's only joe public that gets fobbed off.now where's that £40 i put down for the new game i wanted!

You don't have a broadband connection? Then how are you writing on these forums?

You have an xbox and surely have internet at home since you can write on these forums.
Disconnect the internet to your computer and connect it to your xbox and get Silver membership which is free and download the patch.

OR, if you are at a friends place then how about this, some day bring your xbox with you to his/her place and connect it to xbox live there and get the patch.

I can see your point, but games are so much more complex now that a game this size without any bugs/glitches would be a very rare thing indeed.

If he has internet available through a friend or workplace or something then he has no reason to complain really.
It all comes down to how much he wants the patch.
If he really enjoy the game but think it's kinda unplayable because of the bugs then he can fix it if he wanted to.

Crashes?
Wow, that svcks.
I create a save game for whenever I walk into a building and only overwrite it when I've made it out of that building.
It's sad that we have to take these kinds of precautions to avoid the game spazzing out on us but for the moment it's necessary.
We can only hope these things do get fixed in patches.

i took his point as being the game he got was broken and unplayable, which i would assume he has been hit with the same save corrupting glitch i am experiencing. this glitch was encountered after cleaning out the fiends in vault 3, and, when i tried to load my most recent save game, 24/25 save games became instantly corrupted with the "download content is no longer available" glitch. which is a game killing glitch.

why would anyone risk their career by taking their videogame system to work with them to download a patch that should have been fixed before the game was shipped?

why would they not put a warning on the game saying "to play this game the way the developers meant it to be played, YOU MUST HAVE A BROADBAND INTERNET CONNECTION"?

it would save them the risk of lawsuits.

your argument is like, if i went out and bought a brand new car, the dealer assuring me that everything came with it, including the engine, had it delivered to my house, found that the engine was missing upon delivery, called the dealer and asked where the engine was, and they reply: in six months we will ship it to you, but its up to you to find a mechanic to put it under your hood for you.

why would anyone knowingly waste their money on something that they cant use for six months? why is it his responsibility to find a broadband connection?

it should be the companies (obsidian) responsibility to offer these patches on discs to be sent out on their own dime, to the people who dont have broadband. it is the companies fault for shipping a broken product and charging full price for it, without warning on their packaging.

I will still stand by my point.
Unless you live in a small farming town of like 20 people in a third world country with no electricity then I see no reason as to why someone couldn't find someone with an internet connection to get the patch.
Hell, ask the neighbor if you can use his/her internet for a couple of minutes to fix something.
It's not impossible.
And yeah it's sad that the game was this buggy on release date but it's kinda expected for people to have internet if they can afford a gaming console.
How else are they going to release it?
I'd say wait a year or two until the GOTY is released and you will get all patches without having to worry about no internet connection.
But people shouldn't get mad at the developers because they don't have interenet connection.
It's not the developers fault that they didn't/couldn't get one.
It would be like me complaining I can't order stuff from US or Japan because my credit card won't allow it.
It's totally up to me to fix a different credit card that allow me to purchase from outside Scandinavia.
And it's common knowledge that games have bugs/glitches/crashes and that to get the patches you need internet.

[edit]
But as a matter of fact the game is really buggy and they should have delayed it's released date with 3 to 6 months.
I mean I can play the game so for me it's no worries but a lot of people can't and it isn't exactly fair to them.

No, it's just the time publishers allow for development and testing has decreased so much that developers have to release their games and patch them later.

and i stand by mine. i live in a small town. six months ago was the first time broadband was offered in my area, while 10 miles away its been offered for a couple of years. i know many many people in my community that have no access to broadband other than using outrageously overpriced crappy hughes net satalite that is worthless for gaming.

the united states is FAR behind the rest of the world in broadband infrastructure, yes the big cities have had it for years, but most of the rest of the country dont.

You are seriously overestimating Internet coverage. Especially cheap broadband Internet coverage.

Apparently entire Sweden has internet connection, even in the north where it's mostly just snow and wolves and santa claus.
Even though the crappy ass weather I guess Sweden isn't such a bad place to live in.
But yeah, I'm going to shut up about this now since Sweden has great coverage and I don't have enough knowledge about the subject when speaking of other countries.

But yeah if you can't get the patch then uhm.
Ok, here's one, how about that they release the first two DLC's on a disc along with the patch. (Like they did with O:A+Pitt and later with BS+PL)
That way you won't have to wait like 1-2 years for a GOTY.

And then another disc with other DLCs and a patch for these two DLCs. And so on.

It's not like I'm outraged and don't have Internet connection or can't get patches. I am not, I do and I can. But current trend in game development when it's considered to be completely OK to release buggy games because they can be patched later kind of bothers me, you know. Well, it did happen in the past but was always considered something extraordinary and a big problem. Now more and more people think it's OK. And it's bad.

I agree.
Wouldn't have mind the game being delayed a couple of months for more bug-fixing.
