why is they're no children/women in brink?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 12:15 pm

my only questioon is, why are children and women not fighting for survival either? i mean, the whole city is running out of food. if i was 13-17 years old id have to pick up a gun and try something, at least train, so it seems like they'rd be some "recruit training or recruit sabotage" where one team attempt to eliminate future resistance/sucurity (which my be an evil thing to do but it is war after all. they're should be "outta nowhere missions" that require you to over-see women self defense classes without enemy disturbance (enamy operatvies try to sneak in while you use a sniper or traditional gaurding tactics) , lastly, i know play as a child would be epicly pointless, but it does seem kinda mean to just say all women would die in aa post apoctylpic war. =p

Because killing children in games is a serious no-no. The game wouldn't be released as the classification boards would refuse to allow the game to be sold and then I wouldn't be able to play my Brink. Then I would blame you, track your IP address with my super hacking skills, find your home address, travel there via business class and then kill you in your sleep.

As for the women it's probably because it would use up too much game resources to make female character models, textures, animations, clothes and voices. Plus, do you really want to see the "heavy" body type on a woman?

HAHA^ i suppose that is true, but they're is some pretty scary buff chicks out they're and you wouldnt have to kill the kids, you'd only have to go in, use the melee to render them unconsuous, take out opposing hostiles, and escort them in a small transport vehicle to your evac point, while the resistance has one more chance to intercept and recover the recruits

you wouldnt have to kill the kids, you'd only have to go in, beat them unconsuous, murder their parents, and kidnap them in your van and take them to your basemant.

Fixed. This is how the game classification board / parents / media would perceive what you're talking about.

Or you could "absorb" them like in Bioshock. They got that pass the cert boards.

That's because you couldn't actually see it happen. Nor was it entirely clear what happened to them. Did they turn into sea slugs? Who knows? (I mean obviously there was an answer to that but it wasn't as clear as throwing them into the back of a van)

So if it showed a cut scene of you entering a childs room, baton raised and then faded to black then back to you outside the house wiping blood off your baton it'd get past cert? I mean you didn't see or hear what happened and could not tell what happened. The blood may not have belonged to the child ofc.

Maybe K1lla. Would you be able to shoot a woman in a game if she was merely pregnant? Who knows?

Well the devs put down several agreeable reasons why they couldn't do women characters. The work involved is just enourmous.

Expansion packs often include things like maps, additional gear, weapons etc. Things that don't need you to create a new character and start levelling all over again. Releasing DLC that allowed you to play as a woman would need you to start a brand new character and I'd rather Splash Damage get to work on fixing the inevitable bugs and glitches that come with a new release than adding some DLC that doesn't make a whole load of difference.

So would I. But you wouldn't have to level all over again, they could just make it like the six Change potion in Fable 2. Except it's obviously not a potion. What would be the in-game reason for your character suddenly becoming a chick? Hell if I know. But they COULD just offer everyone a "Once in a life-time" offer for each character, you keep everything you have and just the appearance changes.

If I recall correctly, there ARE a few "protect ze civilians" missions for the Medic class. Nothing like overseeing a kid's karate class or anything, but it's something eh?

Hopefully I can actually help refugee civilians as a security medic rather than just torture them for information *stretches glove and lets it snap back*.

well i can definatly smell alot of apearel packs, or charecter slots. ir's very genourus of game companys to give out that kinda stuff for free, but if they we're to charge you for a stupid digital pants might as well add somethin like a map, mission types or guns, expansion paks without any bang to they're buck make you feel jept-off, honestly id really rather see vehicles and cool envirments instead of a female chareceter, or zip lines to quickly move from place to place like in mirrors edge

Not to hi-jack the thread, but yer. You never found it? It was part of Fairfax Castle.

Back on topic: I don't think anyone's gonna care about the lack of kids seen in the game, you all KNOW they're out there somewhere. And if you did see them , some people would complain about how you can't kill them :P

Well the last two are more of an irritation but can have some effect on game classification and distribution - but the first one pretty muich says whether it can be released.

So yeah. Everyone should care about what the game classification boards think.

Hey guys, discussion of child killing in the game is a restricted topic on these forums, so let's leave it out - OK?

Discussion of controversial current events may be closed without notice if it appears the discussion has, or will, become disorderly. Likewise, discussion of killing children is not permitted as it is classed as mature content, neither is it a feature of Bethesda Softworks games.

Yeah aaaaanyway. The reason as to why you don't want female characters is that Heavy bodytype for women would look http://thebsreport.files.wordpress.com/2009/09/huge-fat-woman.jpg.
