Why would anyone ever use Banish Daedra over Command Daedra?

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 9:11 pm

I mean, I guess if using command would make your summon disappear, but is there any other reason if this is the case?

Also, i noticed on uesp that banish has a damage health effect, but only for 40 points, is there a purpose to that?

cept for very few high lvl Daedra banish works really well when facing casters who summon constantly. In my experience they waste magicka summoning another and less time throwing 1 hit lighting killers at me thus running out and charging in with silly daggers. also with high lvl summons, especially Daedra ( unbound in my experience ) it does not banish them outright but still does damage. Why? i dont know but i assume its the Daedras way of fighting from being banished but still being damaged by the process even though it failed. Otherwise i use banish on my own summoned minions when they get in the way, skulking about scaring the locals.

From a roleplaying perspective your character might be against fighting alongside Daedra.

As mentioned above some characters know that trafficking with Daedra is dirty.

Sometimes people like to do a little something called role playing and their characters might be against everything daedric.

If i recall correctly, banish is a lower level spell and uses less magicka.

A small amount though, so expell would be preferable over command if you're running low on magic. I think the most likely reason however is because either you have another summoned or raised follower that you want to keep or alternatively because you don't like Daedra and role play.

i use banish because its fun in a mage showdown..."oh nice frost atronach" (hits banish) "be gone!". "now i'd like to introduce my pets, twin dremora lords" :P

Banish is a very good way for anti-daedra rpers, Bethesda has always had rping qualities for magic spells that some people consider "useless"

Yea, I was talking about practical use, not roleplaying. I completely get the roleplaying aspect, though.

But even if a frost atronach is blocking a doorway, you are probably better of with command, it will start attacking the enemy and block him from you lol. though if you just want to kill them quickly you are probably better off doing it yourself...

Its still practical for low levels due to the fact that it uses less Magicka then command.

Banish Daedra is a lower level spell then Command Daedra, and Expel Daedra will work on enemies Command won't.
