It's the controller that has me worried the most. Using the dimensions (5.3 inches high) and the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii_U_controller I calculated it to be about 9 inches wide, which is huge. The controller in general just looks incredibly uncomfortable. I hope it gets seriously redesigned before release otherwise I don't see how anyone can use that controller for prolonged play.

It really makes no sense to have the screen on the controller, it should be a separate thing. It is impossible to use both of the anolog sticks AND the screen at the same time, and I don't want to look down at my controller in the middle of a game to get some information. It's just bad design as is.

As for the Wii U's specs -- specs for consoles are fairly useless as you can't accurately equate consoles to PCs or even other consoles as there is too many differences and factors. Have to wait for games to come out before you can see what it's capable of.

The old Wii controllers and the 3DS are apparently able to be used as controls as well.

I just don't understand why they did this. Nintendo has become more geared towards kids with the Wii. Why would they make the controller have a screen, which many kids will possibly drop? Granted the Wiimote was a projectile if you didn't secure it around your wrist, but still. Before the announcement, I was hoping for a successor to the N64 or GameCube; oh well.

A successor to the N64 controller? Are you crazy, you'd need four hands!

Nintendo seems to be going really gimmicky with their controllers lately, producing controllers that are good for their specially designed (Gimmicky) uses but nearly useless for anything else. I can't see this "controller" being any but an annoyance to use.

It's not as bad as you would think. They have made it quite comfortable to use.

Review, videos, and talk shows. It's not like your holding a flat piece of plastic there are supports for example that make it easy to hold. I’ve done my research in this.

Also the specs are quite useless in the thread listed.

It my be comfortable to hold, but how about use? I don't see how I could hold that thing for a multi-hour gaming session. A large factor would be how heavy it is.

Watched some shows and when they where introduced to it and held it they said it was very light. But holding it for multi-hour session could be a nuisance. But it's not required to be used anyway. Unless for specific game type. In some games as they have hinted it’s optional to use or only used for small things like the Zelda clip they showed.

Anyway finally we don’t have to pause are game when we go to the washroom! We take the game with us! (Jokes)

If it's so un-required then why have it at all? Unless the Wii U also comes with a "normal" controller then I'll still be annoyed.

They have shown that the original controllers are still here. They can be used with the new controller. Like the golf clip they showed in the trailer.

Yes, but do they come with the Wii U? I shouldn't have to go out and buy something that should be included just so I can play the game.

Here, They talk about the Wii U controller.

It's a little later in the video but he talks about the remote. It's not so big as people think.

Looks pretty heavy to me, but I couldn't say for sure until I actually played it.

But when you say 'original controller' do you mean the Wiimote?

Yes.

I absolutely despise the Wiimote. It's almost impossible to use for anything other then Wii Sports, and god help you if you're the one that gets stuck with the Wiimote on Smash Bros. Brawl.

This. I really hope that there aren't many motion control games for the Wii U. Yes Nintendo, it was a gimmick that helped you sell millions of units, but your software sales were pathetic. Again, they need to return back to their roots.
