Wild Wasteland List

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 8:48 am

I am sure most people have picked it and have entered area's and had the spooky music and hypno-eyed meme appear. But what noticeable things and good things happen with the trait, lets list them there may be ones that people had no idea you could do.

1. Probably missed by a few people, south of goodsprings is a little camp site, you come here if you completely do all the tutorial quests, and a guy will beg you to go up the mountain to save his daughter. So off you go only to find a little hidden cache and dead bodies and geckos. Turning around when the geckos are dead the guy will come up and say svcker and attack kill him forthwith and go up a little hill (watch out for the traps) and goodies are there. And a dead guy near a chair and table - it will trigger spooky music/meme if your close enough and you notice the guy's name is Johnny, and from the items close by you determine that it's Johnny from the song on the radio :P

2. My favourite one, in Camp Searchlight is a church and a basemant (actually 2 churches but the one in the east is the one you want), with the trait you can go in the basemant and get the Holy Hand Grenades only 3 of them, they are like mini-nukes when they explode. Handy for later area's with many mobs coming at you mass style. Without them you get plain old explosives.

3. The infamous aliens, up in the north, quickest way to describe is to head north from the North Vegas gate and when you reach the mountains head west, you will meet them :) Alien Blaster for the win.

Some not so useful....

In the Ultra-Luxe Casino when you goto see the detective in the room, go for the bathroom near the body and the taps will turn themselves on... just a spooky thing.

On the Dam fighting for the legion, 2nd tower up the top if your quick enough you will see a UFO dart across the sky. There is another event just further on around the 3rd tower but I didn't notice what it was :(

A few others that I will leave to other players to list. Some places I seen the meme and heard the spooky music to find nothing, or wasn't quick enough to see it.

Ahh the whole Something Awful game that never could be.

But there is other items around that actually tie to Johnny in the song too.

Perhaps both?

Broc Flower Cave where you obtain the unique variant of the varmint rifle, Ratslayer. The rats in this cave are called "Rodents of Unusual Size" which is a reference from the movie The Princess Bride.

I can't recall exactly where, I'm sure its somewhere around goodsprings area cause I got this near the beginning of my first playthrough. There are 2 skeletons on the ground and when u mouse over them they are labelled "Aunt Beru" and "Uncle Owen". Never thought i'd see a star wars reference in the game.

The first encounter and Ratslayer are both available to players without Wild Wasteland.

Of course, but they are different. Ratslayer isn't a WW encounter - the rats themselves are. Also, Johnny is merely called a Prospector and the 5 balls and aces are missing.

I just started the game and on the road to the wells south of Goodsprings there is a refrigerator just off the road to the left with a skeleton and a "Suave Gamblers Hat" which is exactly like the pre-war hat except it's value is slightly higher (3). I noticed that this is very much like the skull with the pre-war hat that is part of the Wild Wasteland's icon. Does that mean I'm going to find a cat with sunglasses and an alien too?

Owen and Beru at Nipton.
Hell's Grannies outside the robot store where you "test" FISTO.
Game over man game over! on the NCR radio when the battle of Hoover Dam is going on.
"They're coming through the walls!" same as above ^^
all the others I know of are listed.

My favorite part of this trait is during the last battle on the NCR emergency radio :
"They're coming out of the damn walls!" and "Game over, man!" from the Aliens movie , makes me chuckle everytime i play that mission

Actually the Ultra-Luxe WW event is a CSI:Miami refernce. Just look at the investigator closely.
Also there is a Life of Biran reference in Cottonwood Cove (next ot the slave pen on the wall): "Romanes eunt domus"

After helping Mick get weapons supplies from completing How Little We Know, was rewarded with the Pimp-Boy 3 Billion and a sweet little jingle. Still have diamonds and gold in the Mojave I guess haha.

I don't know if this is a WW happening but in my first play through I had WW and I would randomly get the Vault Boy in the upper left had corner like a message saying something has worn off that that I didn't have a high enough skill for something, but instead of a message there would just be "..." and the Vault Boy would look surprised. Nothing happened while it was up and i can't remember if there was creepy music or not. Anyone else notice this?

While walking around with Rex I got the music, and it spun around to the dog (after fixing him). You have a list of things you can ask the dog about, but if you follow the [whats the matter boy] [Jimmy fell down the well?] you get a map marker leading to a well. In the well is a corpse with a named BB Gun, and 200 pelets :)

Also east of the radiated town is a huge Legion place in a bay. After killing them all I gots the music again, and on the wall is the graffetti (Ceasar go home) or some such in latin. Had to look up the meaning to that one...

I don't know if this is related to Wild Wasteland, but in Raided Farmstead inside the trailer's door there is a skeleton about a third the size of the ones at the back of the trailer. Could posibly a baby skeleton, but it looks like a normal one shrunk down. Further investigation would be welcome.
