Will Bethesda update the DLC?

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 8:09 pm

They updated the vanilla game and added mounted combat, Kinect, better underwater textures.

Do you think they will listen to the criticism of the community and fix things such as:

*The fort doesnt actually get cleaned up (not sure about Volkihar)

*Selena SHOULD be marriageable ^_^

as well as add other new stuff?

What do you guys think?

You know, i'd totally forgot that PC and PS3 don't have it yet :c

I suppose we should let them try out the vanilla dawnguard and get their take on it before updating then i suppose

PC, they could simply fix the issue of not being able to marry Serana.

Does anyone know historically if Bethesda have ever patched DLC before? Someone mentioned yesterday that they don't really do it because it's difficult or something.

i think its due to not everyone having dawnguard, and i do remember someone saying that in order to patch a DLC they have to release the updated version of it on the marketplace rather than update it. i'm not entirely sure though

I'd imagine they will eventually add new things and fix the bugs.
Bethesda are known for having buggy games and from what I can remember in Shivering Isles, I can't remember ever coming across a bug.

So yes, I believe they do patch DLC's.

Luckily, in this case they'd just be patching Skyrim, not the DLC. I think it was mentioned somewhere that the DLC is fully integrated into vanilla Skyrim. So any patch released for Skyrim will also affect Dawnguard.

I'll try to find where I read that, but I offer no promises of success. lol

Don't listen to him, i congratulate you guys on a job well done, my Dawnguard has been glitchless apart from the odd one or two, which are bound to happen, i mean.. its a Bethesda game.

Well not all beta testers, but the majority of people chosen done nothing at all, it shows.

Serena for example, she has a Major habbit of disappearing after going through doors, dexion looking at an invisible elderscroll in the fort, Gunnar selling some stuff one moment, like steel, and the next moment there gone.

I actually done my own little beta playthrough just to see what kind of job they did, and I was content for a while, the main quests seemed to be fine, but it's the small stuff, the details that make it so great, and it's just not polished enough, bug wise.

I even made my own list, it's pretty dam
Long.

And your list mirrors what we had reported almost exactly, but our list was many times larger.

All that's left is to wait for Bethesda to fix it in their own good time. But we did our job, just because you didn't see the wave of the magic wand and "poof" all of the bugs are fixed doesn't mean we weren't doing our jobs.

Me thinks you shouldn't comment on things you know nothing about.

You're right. Next time, I'll make sure my fellow beta testers work harder on their programming and bug fixing.

Oh wait...

Don't blame the beta testers they did their job. Its bethesda you should a bit upset with. The beta testers reported bugs and for whatever reason bethesda decided not to fix some of them.

Not saying the testers didnt do there job, im sure there where Lots of dedicated people reporting bugs, and if Beth weren't going to fix some of the minor but annoying bugs till a month after the dlc came out, why beta test at all, they could have just set up a privite fourm application when the dlc came out, so they can have a central stream of complaints without all the hassle of the actual beta.

They might change minor things, (Like fort dawnguard cowebs, or decrease/change the way the random vampire attacks work).

Exactly, I was being sarcastic >.<

Our job was just to report them and give overall feedback. Which we did. And while we may not have found every bug, I saw the bug list, and it was extensive. It's not our fault if Beth couldn't get to everything.

Essentially, we testers do what everyone else is doing now: play the game, share feedback, report issues. Only difference is that finding bugs was more heavily emphasized.

Alright cool. Wasn't sure since some betas (mostly online games) just require beta players to play, while data is automatically collected (crash dumps, error logs etc)

Dont think so, but they've never historically added in things like new killcams or mounted combat through an update, so who knows? I think they'd have to replace the dlc on the marketplace, and everyone could just redownload it.

I want them to fix crossbow bolts hovering behind you, and the quest items that stay in your inventory thats all I want. An tweek the vampires in towns situation.

I understand.

But since this wasn't an online game, we had to spend about a quarter of our time describing as specifically as possible, every bug we came across. We like to think that we made Bethesda aware of 90-95% of them.
