If I change anything in the console using commands on the PC, will it stay that way even if I don't save my game? I'm worried about changing something and it will become permanent and end up messing up the game without me even knowing about it. I ask this because I tried using a console code command to make a non following NPC to follow me and it worked the first time but when I reloaded the game again, it wouldn't let me add the dialogue option again even though I typed the same thing. I read up that you can accidentally change things and it might screw up the game at a later time. Just to note, I didn't save the game when I changed his dialogue option the first time. The changes shouldn't stick around if you don't save your game. What was the command you tried and what error are you getting from it?

I changed the looks on my character with /showracemenu and when I loaded BACK because I liked my old char better, the face was replaced with the new one.

The savefiles all seem to auto-overwrite appearances atleast.

Any command that has effects in the game world influences the save. Changing face via showracemenu will affect all the saved games following the change. Not the ones before. Same for items added, scripts triggered, door unlocked, etc...

The console is a powerful tool but dangerous if not used correctly.

i used player.setrelationshiprank 4. There was no error when i put it in, it didnt saything after i entered the command. So basically what you guys are saying is that anything changed in the console will revert back to how it was before if reload a save file before the changes?? does this mean the NPC rank I changed will go back to how it was before??
