Will DCLs remain exclusively for Xbox?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:32 am

1. Will Dead Money and all future DCLs remain exclusively for Xbox?

2. Is there any evidence to the contrary?

3. Will a Microsoft win in DCLs result in an eventual loss for Bethesda Software?

1. We don't know that yet but we hope that this isn't the case or there will BE RAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. We have on evidence to the contrary. All we can do is wait and hope

3. I'm wondering this myself. Is the short term goal of the money worth the disdain of the PC and PS3 users and thus loss of potential customers? You decide.

1: Unknown.

2: No evidence to the contrary. Evidence supporting is the mention of "exclusive" with no mention of timed exclusivity for Dead Money.

3: Look up "Embrace Extend Extinguish". This DLC exclusivity bribing is part of "Extend".

EDIT: Its only a timed exclusive, probably. So we'll just have to wait and see.

Ren, that method is of questionable legality and in all likelihood can't be mentioned here.

I didn't think it would change my view of the game as much as it did, but day after day of seeing posts, blogs and info about Dead Money and all the fun others were having, it kinda turned me off on the game altogether.

Not playing to sour graqes here, I just found it interesting after 258 hours in-game and having tons of fun, it took all of about a week for me to stop all FNV play and move onto (in my case backwards) the next thing.

One can only hope that this business mechanic doesn't prove fruitful enough that it becomes a standard, or Microsoft really will win the day at our expense.

To be honest, I've been looking for someone that could tell me whether or not it was legal at all. I'll remove the post definitely, but to that merit I don't understand why connecting the XBOX hard drive--your property--to your PC and transporting data--again, your property--would be illegal. As long as you buy Dead Money I don't really see the illegality of it.

Still though, if it is illegal, I'll strike it out.

Reply to Ren
There hasn't yet been a converter for the dlc files (As of my knowledge). The only files I've seen converted are things like user information ie: save files and profiles
My friend tried something similar to that and resulted in a file whose name was over 20 digits long and no extension. However there might be a converter out there that might work.
Edit: sorry for quoting the post you deleted. I removed the quote

I might try that if I have an extra $10. I have a feeling my friend didn't install the file before he extracted it. Wait do you need a copy of fallout new Vegas for the xbox for it to install properly?

Too much wrong-headedness in this topic. When you buy the DLC, you buy it for a platform, the same as when you buy the complete game. Modifying anything to enable you to play it on a different platform is piracy, plain and simple.
