Will we ever have capescloaks?

Post » Sat Jun 23, 2012 1:35 am

I mean look at this concept art - http://images.uesp.net/f/fe/SR-concept-Imperial_Armor.jpg I would feel so bad ass wearing my Imperial Steel armor and my cape while riding in my horse attacking Stormcloak camps.
Will we ever have capes? They look so good in the concept art.

I think the engine is currently incapable of doing cloth physics.

I don't even think we have clothes physics in Skyrim, which is a shame. I would love capes myself, and I would rather have that than spears.

Yes, but it might as well be made of steel for all the billowing it does.

It's hidden down in the 1.5 patch files if I remember correctly, but the point still stands. I wonder if anything will come of it? I really hope so.

Edit: Also, it's not 'velvet surfaces', it's 'verlet surfaces', which means we can have non-rigid surfaces and therefore capes with proper physics.

I remember this being used in the Game Jam... I really bloody hope they add it at some point... Skyrim neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeds cloaks, it does not make any sense that it's such a harsh environment yet there are no cloaks! :ahhh:

Haven't noticed that at all. Other than the feet coming through at the bottom. I wouldn't call that terrible.

Nightingale armour has a cape, Archmage's robes has a poncho kind of thing, and Thanlmor robes are like a long coat... but yeah, I want to see capes and cloaks, too. That'd be really cool!

I use mods for this, but I really don't understand why there aren't more cloaks and coats in the vanilla game. You are in a cold environment, people would be wearing warm clothing.

Cloaks Of Skyrim is an okay mod, but I prefer using "Winter Is Coming" and "Prometheus Heavy Armor cape" (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/7354) which is the best for imperial armor. As for cape engine, there ain't any but the cape is still behaving nicely and about the clipping - I'm really not bothered with it. It's hardly noticed with Prometheus Cape and Winter is Coming mods.

And even Arkham City which should have the best engine for the cape, didn't manage to pull it off perfectly. The cape is clipping like hell when Batman is taking out a thug or some random event.

I'd be ok with cloaks/capes even if they were rigid like the Nightingales' cloaks... I really want them in.

Thats what mods are for. giving us what we want that isn't in game. (Just like cars haha)

I use the Winter is Coming Nexus mod. all my characters wear those cloaks. depending on where they are or what they are doing I'll change them up a little. Dark areas and I'll use dark bear cloak. If in the winter areas I'll switch to a more snow bear/fox or wolf cloak.

Also depends on my character's hair color. I try and go light color cloak if my character has dark hair.

I think we are getting cape/cloak armors in dawnguard :) well look at Harkon and serana. They have capes. I guess if you join dawnguard and if you have the option to kill them or something,i guess you can take their armor.
