Will Fallout: New Vegas get patches and repairs?

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 6:26 am

Well,
I am a wee bit disappointed with New Vegas.

Does Bethesda and Obsidian use game testers or do they know about "Q A" for customers?

I doubt Obsidian Bethesda actually tested this game before shipping it out because how in the heck can a game company release a game where a Giant Rad Scorpion can crawl thru hills and rocky paths and kill you while underground?

Or how can a game be released when every 20 feet you run (in the game) cause a lag in the graphics?

Sorry to rant and show frustration folks, but I went to get this game at midnight with faith that Bethesda and Obsidian would get this right but so far this game feels like Fallout: 3.5

Lets hope someone from Obsidian and Bethesda actually appreciates customers this time and releases a patch or some kind of good thing.

I suppose the patch released a couple hours ago, doesn't exist, or count?

I forgot to mention that I got the Playstation 3 version.

And according to another website gamefaqs.com many are venting there too and so many canceled the preorders and already want to take the game back.

Seriously,
Bethesda... Obsidian.... What gives?

The glitches and bugs I see in the game are so bad that I doubt we will get a patch just like we never got patches for the console versions of Fallout 3.

One other glitch or bug I noticed is that the game would not let me level up until almost 5 mins after I gained a new level.

IS that normal?

The game doesn't level you up until the current encounter is cleared. It wouldn't make sense to do it in a gunfight.

This is by design - Fallout 3 behaved in the same manner.

I know about not able to level up during an event or encounter,

But nothing was around, I was not attacked and the "bad guy coming" music was no longer playing.

Either way,
Bethesda and Obsidian already got my money so no doubt it will be Fallout 3 all over again.

Just shocked that game developers would do this to customers.

It would be nice if Bethesda and Obsidian came out and at least apologize because I can't find info on a patch for PS3

The game hasn't even been released to the entire world yet (the PC version anyway. Couple of hours left now), it's going to take some time to get the patches done. I assume it's a bit harder to transfer the patches to the consoles than to do a Steam update. Maybe the PS3/Xbox patch will be the first few PC patches combined.

I saw this http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/31086/Fallout_New_Vegas_Patch_Plans_On_The_Way.php at gamefaqs.com

I hope it is legit and the consoles will get something to make this all better.

It's only been three days, guys. Let Obsidian work on it. Have a little faith, dig?

Uhh,
Anyone who played Fallout 3 would say "have a little faith, dig"

Because Fallout (even tho it was an awesome game) had so many problems it was not funny.

And anyone who played Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II knows how lame Obsidian is and would not expect "faith" either.

I should have waited for the reviews on this.

3 days is long enough for the folks to come out and at least address their customers and own up this this and make legit patches to fix it.

Sad thing that bugs me is that no one from Bethesda or Obsidian has not said a word since New Vegas' release on the bug and glitch complaints.

I'm all for giving them a couple weeks to work on the patches, but would it kill them to release a statement listing the problems being investigated in the game so we can know what to expect and what other bug reports to send them? It'd help things get done faster and keep those who are experiencing the listed bugs quieter as well. Don't see why that hasn't been done yet.

I don't mean to grief but this is why you should refrain from buying games at release. While it still has some issues, FO3 is much better now than it was back at release, I'm sure New Vegas will be too...

...someday.

They already released the first patch. They were not very descriptive about what it did (fixes script and quest errors apparently), but they're working on it alright.

It is almost 1600 here on Thursday and I still have not gotten the patch...why can't we download it ourselves since steam hasn't yet? I have played over 10 hours but my saves are from 3 hours (quicksave) and 5 hours (autosave) I am growing weary of playing the same area time and again only to find my saves didn't save...I expect more, why release a game that isn't 100%. Isn't that what Beta testers are for? We should get money back for every hour we can't paly the game...this is ridiculous!

Seriously? I loved KOTOR 2. I will agree that someone (dev, cust service rep, whatever) should have at least said something by now, I'm just big on the "patience is a virtue" outlook. Maybe I'm just old school. As far as liking FO3: yes, I liked it. It is easily one of the worst FALLOUT games made tho, just behind BoS on that list.

Oh, you mean the patch that Obsidian asked to make but which the publisher, Lucasarts, didn't let them make? And even then, KoTOR2 was pretty damn good as far as things go except for the ending which was, again, truncated due to LA's executive meddling.

3 days is long enough for the folks to come out and at least address their customers and own up this this and make legit patches to fix it.

They have released a patch already, and I'm sure that more are on the way. :P

Most likley nothing. All we want is for our games to not get ruined.
