Will Inon Zur be composing the soundtrack? : Fallout: New Vegas

Hey I was wondering if the composer of Fallout 3's soundtrack, Inon Zur, will be doing New Vegas?

Personally anyone else wouldn't do it justice, but we'll see.

I don't know if they announced anything, they might have. I am not a big fan of Inon Zur's soundtrack stuff - both FO3, as well as some of his other work, like Dragon Age, etc. I find him kind of..., well, generic, I guess. Not horrible or anything, but most of his stuff is not very memorable to me.

I can see how some wouldn't find his work to great, but his work for Fallout was as un-generic as it gets. He didn't write the big cinematic orchestral themes, but rather created a unique style to approach the score with. All the Fallout themes are memorable to me, and really made the game feel depressing at times; I think he is perfect for New Vegas.

Just my opinion though.

Inon Zur is to Mark Morgan what Jeremy Soule is to Eric Heberling. If you're on the Fallout forum and actually reconize all four of them, I salute you. Something tells me we'll just be getting more generic FO3-esque tracks, though.

I'm not a fan of Inon Zur. His work seems really generic and unremarkable as if I've heard it all before (I might have- he does a LOT of videogames). Comparing the soundtrack of Fallout 3 to, say, Fable, it's easy to see which one is less generic (especially considering how unique the Fallout setting is).

That said, yeah, it'll probably be Inon Zur. And for guys like me, there's always the radio. :jammasterjay:

I would cry with joy if they got Mark Morgan back, but that's not happening. Actually, I don't know if Fallout 1 and 2 style soundtracks would work well for an actiony game.

Just my opinion though.

I can see people liking what he does. To me, though, it (his work on FO3) was just bland, easily forgotten and with little to no sense of atmosphere most of the time (the score had it's moments from time to time, that much I can give, but sadly those times weren't too abundant). But you never know, he might've changed his style a bit for the better in New Vegas. I'm not holding my breath for a spectacular score, though.

Unfortunately the rumor that Mark Morgan was working on the game's soundtrack was shot down by the man himself.
Still, we can hope that Zur, assuming it's him who's working on the game, can do a better job this time, and he's more at ease with the setting.

I hope the music from the MCA bits Gametrailers showed were a sign. If they were, we are in for darker stuff like in Tactics. Still not Morgan, but... satisfying.
(I just checked where Heberling went, and was surprised to see that he made the music to GalCiv II, which I found very grand.)

To be fair, FO 1&2 music worked quite well with Fallout 3. Not a match made in heaven, but certainly improved the atmosphere.

Would be nice if a knowing person could edit the video so that the music is louder. What little sounds from background I can hear, is actually quite good.

I almost always listen to other music when playing vidja games... Since I find almost all scores to be generic sounding.

That being said, when musicians from weel known bands do movie music, I find they tend to be more exciting and unique... see There Will Be Blood Soundtrack for an amazing and unique sounding score done by the lead gutairist (and BBC composer) Johnny Greenwood of Radiohead.
Or Fight Clubs soundtrack, done by the Dust Brothers.

It's confirmed in the Wikipedia, so if you consider that confirmation that he will be composing the soundtrack, then there you go.
I for one don't, but I think it is very, very likely that he will.

I am using a mod that adds all of the original music as a replacer, so I will likely do it for New Vegas no matter what.

I dunno about Mark, I mean sure the old soundtrack for Fallout 2 kicked ass but I don't know how well it would fit with the whole FPS thing fallout got going on...

I don't mind Inon Zur so much, but I really like Mark Morgan. Lately I've been playing the Fallout 1+2 soundtracks into my headphones while I play. It fits pretty good for me. "Khans of the New California" gets played alot.

Honestly the only music from Zur I found memorable was his Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal score. That soundtrack had some great themes such as http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBArx3AvPkk. His battle music for Fallout: Tactics wasn't that bad either; it certainly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uMCjpwLa9k than the bombastic GI Joe battle music of Fallout 3, but it was still pretty forgettable.

I haven't really been impressed by his other stuff. Most of it is bland and soulless, some of it even ear grating. I find the main theme of Fallout 3 incredibly annoying for some reason. I would have preferred Mark Morgan for New Vegas, but what can you do?

I like Zur's work in some games, but what they had him do for Fallout 3 was, IMO, horribly out of place. It was more like epic fantasy (more appropriate for TES games) than gritty post-apoc. It would have been cool to have something a little closer to the FO1/2 music, whether it was Mark Morgan composing it or not. It just fit the setting better.
