the only one that *could* have consequenses later on is if you kill
Spoiler
Nilsine Shatter-Shield. Its optional though, so if youre not excited about alchemy, you can just choose not to do it (the reward is a ring that boosts alchemy)

Yes, they will. A certain lady who's planning her wedding day had another side quest that involves the Eastern Empire trading company.

The side contracts are spawned for the quests. But the main questline uses named NPC's.

That's why I did the DB quests last. Besides, the questline isn't all that good. And you don't really gain anything noteworthy in my opinion. At least you gain a lot by doing the Thieves Guild quests.

Quest NPCs are classed as 'essential' so you should not be able to kill them, so I can't see you being able to kill someone that is needed for another quest.

If you care for the gold don't kill the darkbrother hood. It's better if you join them.

I've done that 3 different times and I'm not aware of any repercussions associated with it. But then again I haven't done every quest in the game.

As for the rest, no; they don't have you kill people that would ruin other questlines. But it's definately possible if you go out slaying people left and right on your own.

do you know the name of the one that you need for that quest, the one that should be kept alive, the reason i ask is ive only just initiated, and they want me to kill someone called shattersheild, that wouldnt happen to be the one would it, if so thats so annoying, well im now holding off, but i allready started the quest and i know when its been started and you try initiate conversation with the npc, the only things u can say is, the brotherhood send message or something like that.

The Blade of Woe is one of the best daggers in the game. Plus, you get summon spectral assassin, and some awesome with great backstab bonuses, and poison resist which is invaluable in Falmer dungeons.

You can still get the blade of woe without joining the DB. You can get it right after killing Astrid. Also summoning spectral assassin isn't all that impressive. In fact hes way underpowered. He essentially got his ass killed when I was at the new db HQ when Cicero went crazy. Hes easily beaten by the enemy. Unless if you like having a follower that talks hes bascially worthless IMO. I rather have my daedra lords.

If you like having a horse mess up your stealth approach then yeah, I personally hate that he follows you everywhere once you get him. I don't use him. I fast travel.

Nope. Her name is Victoria Vicci from Solitude. She's your next door neighbor if you own Proudspire Manor.

None of them are major quests but there are a few that give small quests. And as someone else pointed out, Narfi also has a small quest.

Can't remember about Shatter-Shield though.

I suppose it depends on the way you like to play. I for one like to do as many quests as I possibly can. And waiting on the DB was best for me. Not to mention, it's alot easier to make your kills once you've built up your sneak and archery skills.

Also, doing the Thieves Guild also makes it easy to get yourself out of trouble if you happen to get caught. Thieves Guild members can bribe any guards to get out of trouble easily.

Yes it could. While gathering intel to find out who the cook is for the Emperor, the High Elfs who hang out near the Jarl in Markarth got in the way and I had to take them out. Its my third time through the DB quest so I know there is one quest that I will unfortunately not get because of those meddling High Elves.
