Will i be overpowered later in the game or take a beating?

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 6:47 am

If i go the melee tank way, only increasing one-handed,heavy armor and blocking and taking perks on those, will i become god like later in the game or will i get owned?

I wont use alchemy, smithing or enchanting at all.

You will have a problem with mages. Thats about it, and dragons. Those ice storms will kill you in two hits, maybe three.

Yeah, Wizards give my level 30 char with full Legendary Daedric armour a flogging and I've focused primarily on combat and defense.

Unless you find one of those 60% resistence ammys, that is if your enchanting includes stuff you don't make but find.

Thanks for the input, so how do i get enough magic resistance without using alchemy or enchanting? I play as a Nord so he should have 50% resistance to frost.

indeed if i found magical items i can use them i just dont create them my self

Depending on the difficulty. Master, you will get owned, novice, you'll be a god

If your not going to enchant, make sure you at least buy resist fire and resist frost Items. You may find some as loot early and you may not. Those mages throwing Ice spikes...ouch!

Not saying you should use alchemy, but it can be used without the perk's. You "learn" slower, and the potions increase in strength slower. But My warrior never used the perk's for alchemy.

What difficulty level are you playing on?

I don't think that you'll get ether too powerful or too weak with that style.
Dragons get down on the ground relatively often (I never had a problem with them with my melee character) and there is a shout which can help you bring them down.
Also, you'll find a lot of good items with existing enchantments which you can use to fight against enemy mages and such.

There is a Blocking Perk that reduces elemental damage by 30% if you're gonna use a shield, and there is plenty of loot enchanted with magic resistance. Doing the Companions quest you could find the Shield of Ysgramor early on, an it has a decent resistance to magic. Later on you will find even more powerful pre-enchanted gear, so I wouldn't worry.

As for Dragons, you have your shouts and later on the MQ you will learn a shout that will help even more against dragons.

Yeah, so choise between elemental resistance in a steel shield is preferred rather than using ebony shield without it? Without smithing the difference shoudn't be that big between steel and ebony, right?

steel sheild---28,
Ebony sheild---32 not a huge difference and the enchantment would be a big factor.

Just start collecting the best resist item you can find for each inventory slot. Simply switch gear if you're fighting a mage. The atronach guardian stone is also very useful once you're of a level high enough to need it.

There is enough gear with elemental resistances, f.e. the Otar mask adds 30% to each. So it shouldn't impossible to play with such a char.

Spellbreaker sheild will make you pretty good at magic resistance, especially added with the blocking perk.
Dragons and mages are a walk in the park then, so much so that you may find it a bit OP actually.

How about the "ignore x% of armor" or "bleeding effects" Do i get these effects without taking the perks when using maces or axes or do they "start" to work once i take the corresponding perk? Honestly i dont have the bleeding effect perk and i dont see ANY bleeding effect what so ever.

I think you need the perks, you can also get a shield that deals bleed damage that you can inflict during a shield bash which deosn't require perks. Targe of the Blooded.

Ok, i thought it would be awesome idea to use maces against armored humanoids and using axes against all non armored humanoids and creatures.

One more thing, if i take that one perk in blocking tree that is supose to give magic resistance, do i need to block those magical attacks for it to work or is it sort of passive effect?

You can always take the Lord stone for 25% magic resistance and theres a quest that can get you 15%.
