Will People who bought a hard copy of BRINK for the PC get a

I bought a hard copy of BRINK from my local EB Games shop up here in Canada, is there any chance we will get a pre-load code so that we can download the game and install before Tuesday?

You pre-ordered a hard copy. That means you pre-ordered a CD with the data for BRINK in it.

Now you're asking for the data for BRINK. The very data that's in the CD. That you pre-ordered. And have yet to pick up.

that would require some kind of quantum loop disk that could retroactively install data you can't use anyway into the past so that it could unlock just as you left to the shops to pick it up...

It should be entirely possible to give us a code that would allow us to download the game from Steam but not play until we input a CD key within our hard copies box. Just saves us install time. Not a big deal either way yet it is a valid question.

I'd rather ask and be [censored] down than be left wondering.

Some games work that way with the CD key.

I really don't see why not, either way you have to use steam to play (probably put in cd key), so why can't we pre-load the game aswell? It's not like we'd be playing it for free.

essentially your saying that the bricks and mortar store should give you a steam coupon. good in theory and if this game is anything like new vegas was the retail copy is just a steam installer anyway....but why bother buying the hardcopy at all. apart from a manual and some flyers for skyrim and rage. i do not believe any of those things to be worth the time effort and fuel required.

Your comments are somewhat misleading regarding Brinks means of distribution. Brink, no matter where you buy it (online or brick/mortar), uses Steam. If you buy a hard-copy you will likely be able to sign onto Steam, and use whatever code has been provided, to install Brink via Steam if you wish and to not use the provided DVD at all. With this in mind, it would have been nice to allow anyone to pre-load and then use there activation code on Tuesday when they get their hard-copy.

I dont really get your point. If u get a hardcopy it should be inside the box right which u get on Tuesday(in America) . How can u enter your code into steam now so u can start your preload? + its a bit of whiny cmon cant u wait like 10 extra min. And if u cant wait the extra minutes buy it via steam :) problem solved.

It's not "whining" it's just a question because I've done it before where I bought a hard-copy and had received a pre-load key allowing me to install the game before I got my hands on the actual box.

The point i was trying to make was that it would have been nice if "ANYONE" could pre-load Brink (even if you haven't bought it yet)... without the need for a code... and then use their store bought code on Tuesday. I myself bought a brick/mortar copy (wanted the Doom stuff) and I'm not personally concerned about pre-loading or how long it will take to install Tuesday. I was just trying to add clarity.... well... I thought I was. :(

I dont wanna be rude or anything. But that makes no sense. Why would u want every1 to download your game while they havent even bought it.

Would "you" download a game you couldn't play and were not planning on buying? Do you really think everyone just downloads everything they can get their hands on? I don't think it would have been an issue... and no worries about thinking you might sound rude... you didn't and it's all good. :)

It's like asking the post office for that letter you are suppose to get in the mail that you now want that letter emailed to you instead.

Because the non-steam retailer you bought the game from doesn't know the CD key inside of the box, which is the only way they could let you pre-load it through Steam.

It may have been nice but it would have also used Valve's bandwidth unnecessarily if people downloaded it and then bought it. One of the reasons to use Steam is being able to pre-load games, it wouldn't make sense if they negated that advantage by allowing everyone to use it instead of people who bought the game through Steam.

My advice, cancel your pre-order if you are getting a hard copy and pre-order online instead.
Hard Copies do get pre-load ability, problem is, if you don't get the game early, you can't pre-load.

And this is why I canceled and got it from D2D.

Damn i was going to say that :(, but yes where did the idea that you can Preload something Physical without having the Physical Disk, by getting a code that lets you download the game before its released without a CD. I Mean if that is how it worked most people wouldn't buy the game then...
