Just wondering becouse i really hate how npcs dies meanwhile i am out aventuring. Will they stop attacking cities if you side with the dawnguard and complete the MQ?

In my game the attacks did stop after completion of the Dawnguard Main Quest, but I was one of the lucky ones where I only had to deal with 2 attacks during the 30 hours I was tackling them. I still get many random attacks while travelling the road or wilderness, but NPCs are rarely nearby

I have seen reports that they continue, but my experience was that they stopped. But it is hard to say since it is so random. My current character is now at level 29 and I haven't seen one yet even though I went down to For Dawnguard at level 15 to get a crossbow, and was approached by the Dawnguard recruiter at level 10. For my previous character, I was getting attacks fairly regularly long before I had even gone to Fort Dawnguard.

This seems to be a central problem in discussing this issue: the extreme variability in experiences, even for the same person.

(Can't wait for the Construction Kit guys to get a look at the script for these attacks and clear up these kinds of things.)

The attacks appeared to have stopped for me after finishing the main portion of the DLC. I only had four attacks while progressing through the story, though. I have played about 20 hours after finishing, and I fast travel a lot.

My experience was very similar. I had two NPC deaths and that was it. They still hit in the road and wilderness but the cities are safe.

I heard the ONLY reason the vampires keep attacking towns is because people when starting Dawnguard don't finish it in one go, they instead choose to break off and explore the world of Skyrim, beat the MQ and they don't attack towns, I sided with the Volkihar and I get attacked in the wilds by Dawnguard every now and again though.

Only been attacked by vampires once since completing DG. And it was out in the wilderness. What I thought was odd about it is the fact that I'm a vampire. I've been ambushed by the Dawnguard many times outside of cities but this was the first group of vampires to hunt be down.

I really think it varies from game to game. I didn't do DG in one go and I've not seen anymore attacks in cities.

My Vamp attacks in the cities ended, however I get attacked in the woods and roads all the time by Vamps and Dawnguard.

I meant that he cant have vampires attacking in whiterun or something if he's not there. I still get vamp attacks outside the hold too, just not in cities.

I never had vampires attack inside cities, but the Dawnguard do from time to time in places such as Falkreath and Morthal and Dawnstar. They're a lot nicer though, only go for me unless the guards attack them. Once they get them wounded and kneeling, they leave 'em alone. For me, this has persisted past the completion of the questline.

they should have a 10 day respawn for characters in towns. Maybe not the same character but maybe a character that does the same things but has a different name. It would also give the feeling that people come into towns and fill vacant houses and a certain progression and motion to populations in towns.

That might be a bit tough to do, what with named houses and the children and such.

I completely support it, but doubt it'd be implemented.

Its a yes and/or no answer.
Some people have either had lessened or completely stopped vamp attacks on the cities. Some see no difference in the attacks and some get worse attacks. Its all varying among the games.

Take up alot of programming to add in whole new sets of extra characters that'll probably glitch into existence (somehow) anyways. Someone suggested 'training' the city guard to fight vampires but that probably won't be implemented. Another suggested having NPC's run from the danger (to a certain level) or being in their houses at night.

Vampire attacks can happen as long as you are in the same cell and some areas share cells. For example some houses in Whiterun share the same cell as the Ragged Flagon.

You still cant have an npc die in a city unless you are in the city. Not sure about the ones without a wall, like Dawnstar though.

Gstaff says that the attacks are supposed to stop after completing the Dawnguard MQ for either faction. However, it seems doing the radiant quests may occasionally trigger an attack, so if you stay away from the post-MQ quests from either faction the attacks should stop.
