Will Solstheim add more flavor to skyrim's world (never play

Post » Mon Nov 05, 2012 2:32 am

I know shivering isles for oblibion added a really nice new landmass that spiced up the current land offerings.

If Solstheim is indeed part of the new dlc what can we expect in terms of creative land offerings?

Will it be more of the same plains/majestic snowy mountain setting? Or is it more bizarre in nature?

Thanks

In Morrowind/Bloodmoon, Solstheim looked exactly like Skyrim. That was the whole point of it, offering something different from Vvardenfell, a winter wonderland so to say.
I surely hope the eruption of Red Mountain changed Solstheim and made it more like Vvardenfell. There are living many Dunmer now, so at least culturally we will see more exotic stuff. Solstheim is an integral part of Morrowind as of the 4th Era.

My Dunmer Mage will be so excited about this.

Judging by the information contained within patch 1.8, Solstheim will be an odd blend of Skyrim-like landscape and the exotic Dunmer culture. Should be very interesting, in a more subtle way than the Shivering Isles.

I'm hoping like crazy for Dunmer culture everywhere. It'd be a nice change of pace and my Dunmer would feel right at home.

I doubt they would add Solstheim in a DLC since it was in Morrowind. They're just as likely to add a portal to Mournhold.

Yeah. My evil Vampire Lord and warrior Dunmer can't wait. He is one ultranationalist [censored].

Hey. Reality called. It wants you to check tomorrow for a Skyrim DLC trailer!

I'm expecting Dunmer architecture and farming like what we saw in Morrowind. The Telvanni tower and netch could be a clue to this

True. It's not even been confirmed, it's entirely possible that we could be ending up eastern mainland Morrowind. But the speculation has taken on it's own momentum and new people are starting to take speculation as outright facts, as the op's post demonstrates.

edit: I meant Western, not eastern.

I hope they will open the closed gate near Riften, the gate that leads towards what's left of Morrowind (not Vvanderfell because canon lore says it's now scorched land). However, the absence of any specific marker in the added data makes me think they will add only the island itself, nothing more.

Maybe you should read the OP of the speculation thread. Since when are game companies in the business of putting stuff into pachtes just for fun?
Mardoxx checked the files. Other people checked the files. They are there and Solstheim is in the game - if western Morrowind, too, great. But Solstheim is as sure as we can get without the official confirmation.

Data strings etc. have been found in the executable and updated .bsas and .esms that came with 1.8 that at least seem to corroborate the Solstheim theories. I'd be surprised if it isn't, although it is certainly possible.

I quite sure it will be Solstheim as I think the rumors have been cleverly started by staff at Beth' to get the curiosity aroused.

I have how at time considered similar things thinking it may actually be the region of Blacklight in the strip of Morrowind between Skyrim & Vvardenfell as this pice of land has never been seen in a TES game.

It'll add flavour even if the geography and weather of Solstheim hasn't changed much in the last 200 and a bit years. Given how long Dunmer have been living there, it's not unreasonable to expect to be encountering their architecture and in Southern Solstheim, Netch and Kwama.

Well, if they do add Solstheim as DLC, I hope it's bigger than it was in Bloodmoon.
