Hi,

A while ago I made a topic about the main quest bug with Esbern's not talking in the Rat Ways and will not open the door so the main quest won't progress (tried both mods and consol commandes and neither worked). This seems to be the case on all active characters i have. But i was wondering.

Is there any reason I could hope for that the main quest will work properly if i start a new charcter?

Have you tried checking the game cache file integrity using the utility in the Steam menu? I've found that fixes some glitches. Also, have you met all the requirements for the quest? I know on my first character I entered the ratway catacombs, or whatever they are called, by accident and started clearing the joint. Got to Esbern's cell and he would tell me to go away. You have to complete Diplomatic Immunity and return to Delphine with what you learned. She'll tell you the phrase that will convince Esbern you are legit. Hope this helps.

yeah i've checked the steam thing and yes i have completet diplomatic immunity and returned to Delphine. The thing is Esbern do not say anything at all and the subtitels blixt by ultra fast and when you finish the "conversation" he is supposed to open the door but it never happen. And if i use the consol to jump forward Esbern is still not talking and the whole main quest get screwd up.

Will this be the case on all characters?

No but i am a werewolf, but dunno if that is the problem sence there is no voice at all. I do not even have time to read the subs becaus they are rolling by insanily fast
