Windows XP Freezes

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 4:54 am

Hi,

Are the 'famous/notorious' freezes for Windows XP (random freezes in exploring, music played on, screen froze) still happening after the 1.2 patch, or is this matter addressed by now?
Must have missed that part of info.

Greetz,
Ambrose

I just recently got the game so never ran it unpatched. That said, I'm currently running it with the latest patch on an XP (32bit) machine and I do not get random freezes at all.

That's looking good then. Guess I gotta get myself patched up.
Thanx for the reply.

I had them even after the 1.2 patch, however with the 1.4 Patch I never had a single of these ever again. Not sure what was changed or if it was just leftover buggy code in the savegame.

I dont understand why some people are two generations behind the rest..
In a few months three generations..
Get yourself W7 or W8 please. XP is rarely and barely supported by any games nowdays, many companies ignores xp because its outdated in every way!
Just sayin.

I don't play a lot of games and XP does fine for what I do play and the other stuff I do on that computer. No reason to spend the money to upgrade to something I don't need. XP runs great on that rig... it's stable and dependable. I don't care if it's outdated.

You will suffer a great deal when the 'new' generation consoles are out though.

XP and vista will most likely be totally unsupported, because everyone will use DX11-DX12 in their games

Vista supports DX11 by the way and newer versions unless they change the driver model again in later Windows versions.

simply because we dont want to... i have games that play like rotten eggs on w7 or wont even play but play perfect in xp..

besides what are you talking about? companies rarly support xp? Duke nukem supports XP, bethesda supports XP, Witcher 2 Supports XP... most if not all Steam games have XP support
even EDF a NEW game supports XP.

i've only come across a few that dont.. battlefield 3.. which is horrid... and a NFS game (who's title i forgot)... and that boring Halo 2 but that was fixed for XP
