Witch build help

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 6:56 am

I'm starting a new character. A Brenton witch named Adria (diablo). Main skills will be.....

conjuration...summon stuff
illusion....making enemies fight each other seems evil/witchy, and the aspect of terror(+fire dmg)
enchant...to make gear better
restoration....only a lil to get some of the perks
destruction....only fire, see illusion
one handed.....mainly bound sword till I enchant something great
alchemy....might mess around with no perk investment.....seems witchy
alteration....to get the block magic perks

now the question........
Should I use light armor and the perks, or light armor and regular clothes with mage armor spells?
Or no armor and mage armor spells with the mage armor perks?

Only level 4 now. I'll be checking from my phone while I play.
Thanks everyone

Do what you want and put the armor perks aside for later while focusing on what you know. You'll decide what you want to do as you play with your character more and develop that characters style.

My mage is pure conjuration and all you need is the double summon perk with 2 dremora lords and your paralyze spell in alteration. Run around and paralyze stuff while your lords chop them to pieces. Pop your ethereal shout if you get in trouble and your basically untouchable in all situations.

I'd go with Illusion, Alteration, Enchanting, Alchemy just because witches... well they brew stuff, and get bunches of staffs.

Armor?

I'd go with Light for the dodge perk, but RP wise I'd just wear cloth.

Weapons?

I don't know that witches use weapons in the traditional sense, dagger would make sense for me other than using staffs (staves wutevs).

Also :

You only need to put perks into stuff that you want class related bonuses/abilities for.

Not entirely on topic, but: They witches in TES lore I know of(Glenmoril) are conjuration masters, dealing with daedric lords such as Hircine. They study other magic schools as well, but I don't believe armor or weapon based combat would be even remotely practised.

Robes. Specifically, Vaermina Robes. i use them for my female Dunmer witch. They look very good, especially with her purple face paint and blue skin.

So far Adria is leveling fast. But a pain switching from conjure familiar, raise zombie, flames, frenzy, occasional healing and bound sword when needed. Once conjuration is high enough ill switch to enchanted wpn or just use desteuction more with my summons and frenzy.
Keep the tips coming

For conjuration...should I use atronachs, raise dead or both? I think raise dead would force me to use illusion more....frenzy enemies, raise the dead.

You'll level Conjuration much faster with Raise Dead, but Atronachs are more powerful early on.

Like you said, Illusion goes up with Conjuration if you use frenzy... but if you need a dependable tank go with nothing less than a Frost Atronach.

High end, hell I've been drinking I forget the name, but Raise Thrall or some such (the high end Raise Undead spell) is stronger than most anything.

Definitely want to look into your Conjuration perks early, you want a Necro Witch or Elemental or both?

Get that settled and let the chips fall where they may.

In roleplaying I believe atronachs and daedra will fit a witch better.

Summons do seem better....i hate the dumb ash pile from zombies. Adria is lvl 9. Fury and calm are helping a lot. Have perks in. ...
Illusion-2. Conjuration-2. Restoration-2. 2 left to spend.
Also leveling one handed, destruction, enchanting, and alchemy

I have no idea how people could to play as conjuration or illumination when they first start out at level 1. I mean you don't even know any of those spell except may be like one destruction spell which is fire, so how exactly are you going survive as a conjuror or illuminator when you first start out from level 1?

Brentons start with conjure familiar. I use one handed somewhat and you can buy fury in Riverwood in very early stage of game.

Scrap Restoration, focus on Alchemy.
Skip Enchantment and One-handed if possible, I don't see common fantasy witches doing those much.
Clothes for armour.

Definately take out one-handed and possibly add Alteration. One for "armor' and two for the paralyzing spell.
