With regard to your "release date"

Post » Thu May 26, 2011 11:33 pm

Dear Splash Damage,

I feel like it has been about a year and a half since I first heard about BRINK. I have sat in the corner, bursting with excitement, ever since. Being that your current release date is still very vague, I am sure what I am about to say really won't have too much of an impact, but regardless, I am going to say it anyway.

Please, take all the time you need to make this game. Don't rush it out on my behalf. Sure, I don't want to have to wait, and I would certainly not like to hear about it being bumped back for a quarter or two, but I'll be fine. You guys are on the cusp of releasing a truly astounding game, I know it, and I would hate for it to be sullied by moving too quickly. Take your time, polish it up, make it everything you want it to be because the short of it is, I don't want to be disappointed.

I am hedging my bets on you. I believe that you are on the "brink" of a revolution. Gaming has become stagnant, but out of muck a beacon of light shines through. Praises aside, I am looking forward to your game, and firmly believe that BRINK will cement your place in gaming history.

Don't [censored] it up by releasing it too early.

Sincerely,

Red O Magnus

I know the understanding where this guy is coming from.

Basicly, he wants the release-date result to be totally freaking awesome. We all want it to be awesome. A reassurance that he/she will not waste his/her money (need a Demo for this).

True, you're not the only one who thinks this way. There have been a lot of topics discussing this subject. ;)

Saying you agree is rather pointless in general, isn't it? I mean, who doesn't?

I think the problem is the trade-off between game quality and consumer interest. If you wait longer to release the game, it will be way better than it would have, but some people might lose interest. Release it too early and chances are it will be less than spectacular. You could also view it that the longer you wait the more people will want it and it will be more popular. Either way, I think the scheduled release date is fine. Let's just hope for no delays. And for what you said about a demo, I think it would be a great idea. People say it is unlikely because of Bethesda's track record with demos, but this game would be a lot easier to make a demo for. You can't make a demo for games like Oblivion or Fallout 3 because those games are a 50+ hour commitment.

Maybe you guys are content with the whole waiting thing but I'm not and seeing as there have already been 2 delays (count them not 1 but 2) I am not interested in waiting too much longer, and a 3rd Delay would definately pull my interest in the game. I am trying SD trying soo [censored] hard to be patient. The moderators may pull my statement from this post and slap me on the hand but guess what? I'll post it again somewhere else until I am banned completely. I honestly believe that a year of delays is more than enough time to fix what ever bugs you may have, even 6 month should have been enough. There is no such thing as perfect, stop trying to get it perfect before it launches and just get it right. At the very least Give those of us drooling over what we have already seen a taste and not in a video but something that we can interact with.

I know that the above seems like I am ranting but this is just my opinion, and something I have been holding in for a while and felt the need to get it off my chest, sorry if I soured the mood.

I may have missed something but the only 2 dates I've ever seen were Fall 2010 and Spring 2011
The announce video said Fall 2010

There were 2 delays. the game was scheduled to be relased in spring of 2010 and then fall of 2010, now the release date is scheduled for spring 2011.
