With this whole "marriage" thing...

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 8:59 pm

Anyone know if, since they are putting greater emphasis on getting married, will they be adding more people to marry? I know Kahjiits have no one to marry, and Argonians only have 1-2? I'd like to see more options for marriage.
I play as a Kahjiit so...Forever Alone.

It hasn't been mentioned yet as far as I know. I'd say no, but I can't say for certain. Guess we'll have to wait a couple days.

Bosmer have been cast out of nuptials with their own kind too, i suppose one could argue culture??
But being in Skyrim, surely they have abandoned said restrictions.. Mara is benevolent after all.
So there is no excuse, each race should really have a male and female choice.
Hopefully Hearthfire addresses these troubles, if not, perhaps an update will.

Not to other Khajiit. Certain races or genders of races lack a counterpart to get married to.

I do think the khajiits, argonians and redguards need a few more potentials in skyrim, for sure. I'm more interested in re-marrying, just in case my spouse dies. I prefer to have my spouse as a follower, but she does die a little more easily than I would.

Interestingly, I've always wondered about the "mourners clothes" seen in the chothing store in Solitude.

To be fair, it makes some degree of sense that there aren't many of them in Skyrim- their homelands are on the opposite side of Tamriel, in much warmer climates. If there's future games that take place in Elsweyr or Black Marsh, the problem could very likely be reversed- an abundance of beast race representation and not so many humans. Also, it's really just Khajiit (and Bosmer) that are neglected when it comes to marriage. There's at least one male and one female Argonian as marriage options IIRC.

Don't forget high elves; there's no male marriage options.

Either way I feel the "in skyrim not many of them" answer I've been seeing is total bull; why even have them playable if you aren't going to cater to them?

Yeah, it does make sense why there aren't a lot of them but it doesn't make sense why the ones who are here can't do half the things other races can. Can't marry, can't have a female Khajiit as a follower, can't have the glowing eyes from Dawnguard, there are half a dozen things I could list that are wrong with the beast races and I'm sure people could come up with some lore-friendly reasoning behind them all but when it comes down to it, they're just neglected.

If they did a game in Elsweyr I highly doubt that Nords would suddenly be unable to find a spouse in all the lands.

In addition to that, Summerset Isle and Black marsh is on the other side of Skyrim as well, Argonians and High Elves both got at least 1 Marriage candidate ._.

Sure. However, I think that this can be explained relative to the theory of distance from Skyrim. The Argonians moved into Morrowind shortly after the destruction of Vvardenfell, so they are occupying it in addition to the Black Marsh. Thus, they are right next to Skyrim. As for the High Elves, I suppose you could argue that the arrangement that the Thalmor have with the Empire may have allowed a number of High Elves to move into the Empire. I know this one is a longer shot, but I know for a fact that the Argonians are now sitting on the other side of the Skyrim border.

Thing is there are plenty of argonian, high elf, wood elf, and khajiits in skyrim. You mean to tell me I can't marry any of them? Other than 1 argonian and 1 high elf?

There's more Khajiit NPC's than Argonian :|
if they were going lore-wise I'm sure your statement would make more sense.

1 High elf and 3 Argonians are Marriageable, I was just making a comparison for Icedus' Theory that the reason there is no Khajiit available for marriage is because Elsweyr is on the other side of Tamriel. As I stated, so is Summerset Isle and Blackmarsh and their races DO have marriageable candidates :|

Lol, That'd be nice, he doesn't even have a function :|
The first time I learned there was no available Khajiit for Marriage, I kept breaking into the lighthouse from my character feeling too lonely. He just kept yelling at me though to get out ._.

Edit : I just looked him up (Ma'zaka), apparently he only was mean to me because I kept visiting him during the day o.o
Now i'm tempted to go back and talk to retired Pirate kitty :o

They'll probably never add any Khajiit or Bosmer options because "it doesn't make sense with the lore they've established." I personally think they just made that up, since it doesn't even explain why you can't marry male high elves or one of the genders of the Redguard race (can't remember which one they're missing ATM). My guess is that the Bosmer and the Khajiit may have been added in much later than any of the other races, though I'm not certain if they were doing any kind of "racial limelight" stuff when it came down to implementing them. I know for a fact that the DB was added in much later than any of the other major joinable factions in vanilla because of the rank data in the CK (the DB is the only major joinable faction without faction ranks).

I wonder why you couldn't marry that lonely Khajiit in the lighthouse.
I wasn't aware that there is a Khajiit in the Solitude lighthouse. I think they should add in marriage options that include Khajiit, Bosmer, Altmer and Redguards, and any others that are missing options. There's nothing that really exists in lore that actually counters the idea, nothing I've really found, anyway.
