If anything, it's getting the word out to more people. Viral marketing can be a force.

I haven't seen much in the way of "new" information come out of these leaks. Just confirming things we already knew, and allowing us some glimpses into the story.

So far all the videos make the game look great. Everyone seems to be getting hyped over it so I doubt they care too much.

A large part of Minecraft's 2 million sales was through piracy. Pirates got more pirates.

Those pirates then often went back and bought a serious copy of minecraft. Minecraft's pirates are a strong force to why it's so popular, and It's very much the case here.

The reason I ask is that alot of the vids that get posted are pulled within hours of being up or the links are broken. Maybe they are petitioning "Youtube" and the like to have these videos pulled soon after they are posted. Just wondering really.

Or as mad as I am that the OP used all caps to ask us an insignificant question.

It's free advertising, I wonder why the videos are being pulled?

I don't think they care that much. I'm pretty sure the only reason the videos are really getting pulled is because they don't want to encourage people to "steal" the game by grabbing a copy from stores that don't follow the "Do not sell before May 10" stickers. I'm willing to bet that a youtube search of brink videos would show plenty of this type of gameplay that won't get taken down until it's brought to the attention of Bethseda/SD

There are marketing reasons for having a single release date

But I imagine early releases are to be expected in the industry. It's not something you get mad about anymore than your monthly bills, since its going to happen.

Two reasons.

1) Is like Krugmik said. They don't want to encourage breaking the street date. If they don't punish it then retailers don't respect it. Then the ones you worked out deals with get made at you.

2) Is because of the deals they worked out with preview sites and advertising. Yes this is free advertising. However gamesite x will get mad because they probably struck a deal to have early footage and now that advantage is being erased.

Well, everyone who got the copy early had to pay for it, so as long as they have their money and they know we are happy, they dont care so much, i think.

Really, they had to be expecting this. Has anyone ever seen the release of a at least somewhat popular game that DIDN'T have videos posted early (excluding beta). I honestly can't think of one.

1. For all those upset that I setup this thread. Simply don't read I asked a simple question out of curiosity the intent was not to upset anyone becuase those that should be upset already are.

2. If I were a publisher or Devleoper or even a vendor for that matter I would be pretty upset. Release or sale of a product prior to release warrants stealing.

3. However I understand that the copies that have already been released promote the game and "Bad publicity is better than no publicity." However this does not take away from point "2".

1. This is the internet. Everyone is upset. Regardless of how many emoticons we use.

2. Yeah I'd be pissed too, but hey it's something that CANNOT be prevented. It was bound to happen. But for a game like Brink with very few TV commercial appearance, but a huge Internet advertisemant and presence (their facebook group is actually not bad), they could use this to their advantage.

Heck I'm about 50% sure they are happy people are playing it. Let alone passing it by the shelf for something else.

3. Was a 3 even worth it? Could of just continued off with 2 with another sentence. None the less, publishers and devs are upset, but the Internet servers aren't even up. So that being a pretty huge draw for Brink is still locked up till the release date. So they still have something they can keep for themselves.

Assuming they're happy with the game they're releasing I'm sure they don't care much, after all it is free publicity.

they just shut down a live stream i was watching. so i'll assume annoyed enough.

just let us play it already. the release date is meaningless when street dates are being broken left and right.
