World Mental Health Day

Post » Mon Oct 10, 2011 6:05 pm

"World Mental Health Day raises public awareness about mental health issues. The day promotes open discussion of mental disorders, and investments in prevention, promotion and treatment services. The treatment gap for mental, neurological and substance use disorders is formidable especially in poor resource countries." http://www.who.int/mediacentre/events/annual/world_mental_health_day/en/index.html

I wanted to type out a good OP and have a nice introduction and all that stuff, but I'm just too tired right now (irony?). Since today is the 10th, and the 10th is Mental Health Day, I can't really put it off :hehe:. So, I figure something's better than nothing, hence this rather lackluster thread. Hopefully I'll track down some good links and things and post them up later. Feel free to contribute some yourself.

For Australia, the USA, and other places I haven't looked up, it is also Mental Health Week.

Don't mind a day about it just hope it doesn't bring out the trolls and such. Still find it interesting that like 99% of the population suffers from one form or another of psychological problems and no one is truly 100% mentally fit.

Its actually about one third or more, worldwide (for clinical illnesses). Anxiety and mood disorders are the most common.
