Is it worth buying Rage?

Post » Thu Oct 06, 2011 2:34 am

I`ve been keeping an eye on this game for a while and thought it looked really great. However, after reading some reviews and seeing some posts on the forum, i`m starting to revise shekking out my shiny coins for it.
One of the recent reviews mentioned the game was good at the start, excellent in the middle and rushed at the latter stages. I`m also seeing complaints about the graphics and weapons etc.

Can anyone who has the game, advise me whether it`s worth it or not? Is it quite short?

Thanks

I will admit, there are some gfx problems. Esp w/ the ATI cards. I myself use nividia, but the main problems is the gfx loading. I also experienced when in an elevator, and you jump, you instant die. Also, the checkpoint system is a little vague, you basically need to save everywhere you go. Which it does say in the tips section also :P

Honestly though, wait till the big hotfix is out before buying, that way your not disappointed. I assume its a major issue right now w/ the gfx drops, so im assuming the hotfix will be out w/ in a week or so. And also, this game is gfx heavy, so make sure you can run the game at good levels as well. there is a site out there that can test your systems to the game you want to play, its not 100% accurate, but it works none the less. google: can i run it -- should be the 1st thing that pops up

RAGE is a must buy though, Ill be doing a first impression blog article here on it today or tomorrow, check it out on my blog.

I do not have the game yet - however, I would like to warn you about looking at forums when deciding whether to buy the game or not. Keep in mind that - immediately following a release - the majority of the people to post on forums are the small fraction who are experiencing problems with the game. Therefore, you'll see tons of complaints and whining threads during the first couple of days following an initial release. (Steam forums tend to be much worse with this than official forums btw.) So the picture you'll get from forums will undoubtedly be extremely skewed!

Like I wrote; I do not have the game yet myself - but my pre-order is solidly remaining and I am very much looking forward to the game at our Friday release! I've been following the Steam forums since yesterday - was a bit unsure for awhile until I regained my focus on the whole picture! I've been longing for a sturdy shooter experience (don't fancy CoD or BF much) and I'm getting more and more excited to play it!

Sure, I know that I may experience problems myself with the game right out of the box, but there are already a number of solutions available and a real patch is sure to be arriving shortly as well. Anyways - my tip is that you pay much more attention to professional reviews (and opinions from mature and objective people who have played the game) - and forget about forums for awhile still. I agree much with what marklive wrote as well!
