I would really love an "Abandon" option

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 10:26 am

pretty much the only thing in my quest log these days are the dozen or so bugged quests i cant finish. an abandon quest option would be nice, so would an option to discard "quest" items - im stuck with 40 pounds of non removable quest items from finished or bugged quests that i cant get rid of. it would also be kind of nice if Shadowmere reset to his pool if you lose him... went in a cave and came out and he had just vanished, havent seen him in about 30 game days : /

Imagine the whines when someone abandons a quest and then wants it back. Quest items don't count towards weight even though the weight is listed... so no worries there.

That would have required more effort and taken time away from making everything so pretty that no one noticed how shallow the game is until AFTER they publish reviews.

Anyway...Shadowmere is supposed to survive even death and is supposed to find his way back to you eventually.
Quest items have NO weight. If you dropped everything but the quest items you'd end up at 0/XXX weight.

Several other games (World of Warcraft comes to mind) offer the option to abandon quests. When the quest is abandoned quest items are removed from the player's inventory and the quest is removed from the player's journal. At that point the player has the option return to the quest-giver and accept that quest again. Under this system - which I feel is the way it should be done - neither the quest nor the quest items associated with that quest are permanently lost to the player.

That works well, actually. It wouldn't work for every quest though - the Stones of Barenziah, for example? Resetting every stone to its original position just to clear out your items or journal would be immensely infuriating.

Go easy on the guy. The shadowmere thing sounds reasonable though.

Yup, so the worst non-removeable quest items can do is clutter up your inventory. It would be nice to discard quests though, but it would have to ask you 5 times if your sure to prevent this.

Or you can have a set quest to hidden option and when you want you can set it back to unhidden and continue it?

isnt that what happens when you hit a quest on the quest log, I mean does having a few extra goals really bother you that much?

It doesn't bother me at all ill just ignore the quest. Some people complain about the list of quests they'll never do on their quest log.
