Would it be strange to have warpainting while wearing normal

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 10:11 pm

I always change into normal clothes when i am in a town.
But i can't remove my warpainting. Would it be a bit strange to look like a regular citizen, even though you have the warpainting of a warrior? :stare:

It could be a "family mark" or you are a tad tribal or something. What race are you?

It depends.

I don't consider my character's war paint so much as that, so much as it is a meaningful mark of his ancestry, and who he is.

But then again, I have a smaller war paint selection that is a bit more subtle than some of the others, as well. I could see how having the skull face warpaint while making a stroll through the market district could be a bit off.

Nord, i have the warpainting that looks a bit like a decorated arrow. On the cheek.

Nord

Well, maybe consider it your ancestral "mark" or something. Or just pretend your character is so ugly that he has to wear paint on his face

I think you'd be okay as a Nord. Either that or an Orc methinks.

I always do this too. My Nord stealth archer has long silver braided hair and the war paint that looks like mascara around his two blind eyes. He may dress like a citizen but he isn't fooling anyone, lol. Especially when he wears his emperor robes.

Honestly, I think the weird part about this conversation is the worrying about taking off your armor just to go into town. Then again, that might come from me being a bit more on the barbarian side of things.

It depends on the role of my character.
My thief would wear normal clothes to not look like a thief.
While my barbarian wears his armor while sleeping in his bed.

The character i mentioned on this topic is a warrior kind of type, but also uses restoration magic.
And unlike other warriors, the character is quite fancy with clothing.

It also depends on which town i am in, i would never put away my armor in a small village, orc tribe or a town where i have no home.
And i also keep my weapon equipped, just in case.

It just a role-playing thing. If I go into a town where I don't own a home, and I'm there for less then moral reasons (thievery or for an assassination), I always throw on a hood.

Totally, that's kind of my point. A thief or assassin would have a hood for a heist or assassination to help hide their identity, and for me a warrior wouldn't take off his armor until he gets home because 1.) to me, a warrior should always be ready to fight, and likely wouldn't let his/her guard down until getting home and locking the door and 2.) role playing is nice and all, but I seriously doubt that there has ever been a warrior who took of his armor at the city gates. It's impractical (both as someone playing a game and in a real setting), and just doesn't make much sense.

I also like certain clothing to much that i can't resist wearing them.
It is my shame.

Ah, now I understand your point. I thought you were just talking in general terms that it was wierd to change into clothes when entering a town. For my warrior character I usually left my armor on all the time too but would always take off any helmet.

I would usually do that to, but i made one warrior character who does wear clothing in a town.
All my other warriors will keep on his/her armor anywhere.
I find it quite fun to roleplay something that barely happens, it can breath more life into the personality of your character.

I always compare war paint to tattoos, personally. If its OK for Muiri, it's OK for my character!

The warpainting does not fade away in water, just like tattoos.

That makes sense. Seeing as you can't remove it or change it, war paint is more like a tattoo then actual paint.
