Would you agree with me that Two Worlds 2 travel system woul

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 3:35 pm

So I thought about this a little...not a lot.

I was playing and enjoying Two Worlds 2 before I started Skyrim and then....well....now I can't play Two Worlds 2. Although that is, I find that Two Worlds 2 has a good travel system with their teleporters.

It's sorta in the middle of not being able travel instantaniously and Fast Travel.

There would be 5 "devices". One near each corner of the map and one in the middle. It kinda goes with the setting better. It's magic, you don't have to walk everywhere, you can still choose not to use them, and this way even if you're tempted to abuse the system (even if you don't want to) you still have to do a little leg work.

Or am I crazy?

Sounds a bit like Morrowind's propylon chambers to me.

Sounds like the same system as 2 Worlds 1, which I have played extensively. 2 Worlds 2 sits unused on my shelf cause I really did not enjoy it that much. It did not seem as open world as the first one. But if it is like the transport system in 2 Wordls 1, then I know what you are talking about.

They had a similar system of transport in Morrowind, where you pay mages to teleport you to another mage guild across the land. I think that type of system if implemented in the context of current lore, with an explanation as to why there was a teleportation gate located there, and perhaps with a cost associated with using it would be fine in Skyrim. But they would need to come up with a good lore explanation for why there is a teleport gate there.

I don't see the point of teleporters to be honest.

Carriages, boats, silt striders, etc. between major cities would suffice.

I'd rather they implement real time sailing like TW

Getting a boat from Solitude to Windhelm (and/or Dawnstar) would be pretty cool.
More carriage stops are needed, at the very least.

Yes! That was my favorite part of TW2.

This would be just as good imo. I just wish there was a traveling system that fit the aesthetics of the game rather than just clicking a button and warping there.

The carriages are a step back in the right direction if you ask me. Boats would be nice too wherever appropriate. Maybe some kind of teleportation system so long as they make sense. Mark and recall as well as Divine Intervention fit in terms of lore and could work as a useful tool so long as some things were done to make them unable to be abused. No recall or divine intervention during combat.

Just made me remember that despite it's crazy thrown togetherness, the world map in TW1 was incredibly fun to romp across with my 34 taped together swords.
