Would you let us upgrade the Nightingale Blade?

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 7:34 am

Greetings, I recently obtained the bad ass Nightingale Blade, but I realized that Im not able to upgrade it. I heard that depending on the level you get it, it is possible to upgrade. However, Im pretty much advanced in the game (132 hours, level 61, 100 smithing) and it wont let me.

Is this a bug or working as intended? It would be great being able to upgrade those unique equipment pieces. Im kinda bored of my Daedric set of armor/weapons.

Thank you in advance.

Hi, so, I do have all the perks and the ebony ingots needed to upgrade it. The fact is: when I use the grindstone, the Nightingale Blade wont even show up on the list.

Exactly, thats why Im asking (Im not very sure if anyone related to the development of the game reads this) if in a future patch it would be possible to upgrade it.

My Daedric sword does like 135 dmg while the Nightingale Blade does 77. :(

I don't think Nocturnal likes you messing with her weapons...

It would be awesome walking around with unique, upgraded equipments. So far I think that the best equipment in the game are player made, which is not bad at all, but having some unique items around that own anything is pretty neat too. The nightingale blade is one of the best weapons in the game, but lacking upgrades makes it just a gimp weapon.

I second the OP's request. I mean the Nightingale bow is upgradable but not the sword, which makes no sense at all. It's either a mistake, or a bug.

Isn't the Nightingale Blade supposed to be a Unique Item? You shouldn't be ABLE to upgrade it.

That logic is flawed because we can upgrade other unique weapons. Several Daedric artifacts can be upgraded.

@OP

I would just stack some fortify blade enchants and just use it anyway.

The Nightingale Bow is also unique, yet you can upgrade it. At least a bit of consistency would be nice. I won't cry over it though, that's for sure.

Agreed. My guess is that it is a bug, like many others, and that we should be able to upgrade those weapons.

It has to be a bug. I upgraded mine using an Ebony Ingot on Console.

I mention the system, because maybe its a PC thing maybe? *shrugs*
Have fun. = )

I upgraded mine on PC, if I recall it required an ebony ingot. You have to have the arcane smithing perk for all magical items.

Isn't the Nightingale Blade supposed to be a Unique Item? You shouldn't be ABLE to upgrade it.

I don't think you should be able to add additional enchantments to uniques, but I see no reason that you shouldn't be allowed to put them to the grindstone and sharpen them up.

Dawnbreaker & Nightngale Blade are bugged i think.

I was able to upgrade the Nightgale Armor with voidsalts but not the blade.

Shield of Ysgramor is another one that doesnt upgrade, wish i could tho.

Targe of the Bloodied i can upgrade same with Mehrunes dagger.

I can definately smith a godly shield but its in the skyrim lore the history behind Ysgramors shield for me in game that out weigh any other shield i can create.

I kinda wish guards would also recognize the shield and comment, similar to when you carry Azuras star or Mehrunes dagger.
Small details i know but it would be kinda nice.

I've upgraded Dawnbreaker. It's still not AS powerful in terms of base damage as other unenchanted Ebony Swords. To get it to a reasonable high end level you'd have to have over 100 smithing skill.

You can temper the lower level versions but not the +46 version, as its not in the smithing list.
This is an obvious bug as all the other nightingale gear can be upgraded, might or might not be fixed in the patch as it's an minor bug but an annoying one.

many artifacts are not listed as ebony, daeric or other materials who get benefits from smithing perks in the materials, this leaves them with lower base damage than an standard ebony sword

Definitely a bug then.

Thats what I thought. For now, we can only imagine how cool would it be, walking around the game with a mixed set of unique, upgraded items.
