I was musing about this topic with a friend of mine, and we both generally agree that as designed, Skyrim simply isn't a good match for multiplayer. Sure, the fiction does seem to leave it open to have more than one dovahkiin, but I'm more concerned about how the quest system would hold up to even a second player. I have broken quests and can't tell you how many times I've accidentally screwed something up because I had the audacity to explore a little too deeply. I can't imagine what sort of mess a second player would create!
That said, I would love to have an Oblivion plane or some such construct, which almost acts like a lounge and can be used to socialize with friends as well as buy and sell items. I can't tell you how many times I've picked up a weapon or enchanted something and thought how much my friend would live that dagger or ring, or set of potions I just brewed. But goodness, could you imagine how game breaking that could be?!
Perhaps we're all just better off with Skyrim staying a single-player experience!
