Would you play if skyrim had Dark souls difficutly?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 1:05 am

So it seems as though allot of you want more of a challenge in Skyrim, how much of a challenge? do you want a dark souls difficulty? what's that you ask? basically it's the hardest game known to man. Check points are few and far between, every time you initiate a check point, all the enemy's re spawn... all of them. oh and when you die? you loose all of your souls, basically money... you use it to level up and buy stuff... the bosses, they are at least 3 stories tall and can kill you in about 3 hits... and and latter on in the game, the bosses you fought first, yeah they become just normal enemies...

So would you want it in skyrim where when you die, you loose all of your xp up till that point? were you can only save in a bed, and when you do every enemy respanws? where the "boss" battles are against huge 3 story monsters?

also, lets just say a demo booth for this game was a coffin... the slogan was "prepare to die"

Personally that would be a cool skyrim. opinions? this would be like... 40 times harder then master difficulty

EDIT read this, i don't want this, it's more of a joke of how people want a harder game... so combine skyrim and dark souls... people need to read the thread instead of the title

Skyrim was never about challege, so it would probably turn a lot of fans off (also, the greater the difficulty, the less freedom you have to explore the world and different combat styles). To implement a system like this, they would have to completly redesign the game to fit this style, so it dont think it would be good even as an optional difficutly.

Although, you can always replay dark souls if you want a chalange like that

It is not the hardest game known to man. that belongs to the original Ninja Gaiden. and the games are completely different you can't compare the 2. if you don't think Skyrim is difficult enough take off your armor and stop using exploits.

I'm not a hardcoe gamer and I only play for short periods of time. So, I like it easy. Just don't have the time.

no, because I'm not a masochist. I play games to have fun, nothing about Dark Souls gameplay has ever sounded fun to me. It just sounds like irritation, stress and frustration in electronic for and, no offense but, Dark Souls fans all sound like elitist snobs.

Skyrim is its own game, but I do think it is currently too far on the easy and simplistic side. Nothing wrong with adding some more options for difficulty and complexity, especially in the Ai and mechanics area.

I'm surprised it doesn't even have some very basic stuff, like:

1. Flanking/baiting type behavior
2. Medium wind up, unblockable, extremely high damage attacks to punish turtling behind a shield
3. Some form of leashing behavior, to prevent enemy groups from being cut down one by one, and to counter perching behavior
4. Basic, high damage counter attacks to prevent mindless melee spam
5. Some basic enemy party dynamics, like mage enemies buffing and healing their allies, high health enemies trying to distract and block the player from hurting weaker enemies, etc
6. Some basic hate prioritization beyond attacking whoever has the highest health
7. npc usage of racial powers
8. Counter spells, spell absorbtion/redirection abilities

The thing is, the people who want the harder difficulty are usually the ones who craft daedric armour right out of helgan and thus are extremley overpowered even on master until the endgame and then complain that the game is too easy.

That's because the game isn't easy for people who aren't overpowered yet.

I'm certain the next DLC is going to make the endgame more fun though.

but weren't you just saying that the bosses from the early game are the standard enemies of the late game? that doesn't sound rewarding to me, that sounds like the game saying "oh, you think you're special huh? have a whole bunch more of something thats already killed you several times." totally trivializing your earlier accomplishment and making it basically meaningless.

Standard enemies are easier than bosses, so you have the satisfaction of killing them easier I think. I am a PC gamer so I haven't played Dark Souls yet.

Not really, it's more like..."I've become so strong....that these enemies that used to be bosses at the beginning of the game are only tough enough to be regular enemies now".

I would play skyrim no matter what the difficulty because I'm a TES junkie. I don't know what a dark souls is and I'm too bone lazy to google and find out.

Think of it as being like a modern metroidvania, complete with the difficulty, but in 3d form. It doesn't hold your hand, and punishes you for failing to learn from your own mistakes, and not being cautious.

Dark souls isnt that hard at all......Sure, your going to die, but in the end almost every non boss can be beaten the exact same way...actually....except for dealing with some unique attacks bosses can pretty much be killed the same way too. I'm at the end of dark souls and I'm dissapointed :/ I bought it for the challenge, its not been THAT hard.

Yeah, people really like playing up its challenge as this horrible, terrible thing, but it really is not that hard, so much as most games today are too easy. If you were a gamer in the NES era, it doesn't come off as that bad.

I can mow threw Ninja Gaiden in about 24 to 30 hrs Dark souls is imo much harder that game is only for a very few who like dying over and over i gave up after about ten hrs of pure hell.
