Post » Wed Feb 02, 2011 1:58 am

Hello! now we have all seen them in the games wastelanders just trying to get by in the dave republic or in THOSE! where you got to figth giant fire ants theres allways fallout familys fighting to rise at lest seeming safe family that being said in the game if you could say take a husbend/wife in game and at lest and maybe make her with child would you want this in the game? i myself kind of like the idea of maybe starting a family on a "good" char (though i enjoy being bad ^,.,^) or even as a "bad" char? lest for awhile prehaps not even have a child in game just have diologe talking about haveing one day? I dont know? thoughst all?

Meh. I always liked the traveling loner style myself, no reason to stop others from having the option in a future game though.

Me, I've never seen any "relationship" in a game that didn't feel like something obligatory and tacked-on anyway, so I personally don't care for'em.

if it was anything like fable 2.... no.

i hated fable 2s system. it became more of an annoyance then a feature.

they were of no use to you. and all they did was demand money and have a kid that did nothing and required more money

Well tho im 99% sure this wont make it into the game i think it would be a nice feature. This could add a new quest line in too. You meet a girl/guy depending on your gender. You can recruit them as your companion. (Game says all compainons have there own quest line) So as they tag with you, you begin to bond with them and they start to fall in love with you. Eventually you can get married if you get your relationship high enough. Then you can take them with you or get a home and tell them to stay home. They can cook food for you if they stay home.

Not to mention the pain in the [censored] wife in Fallout 2. Hence my character had only one mistress. Mrs. Bishop :hubbahubba:

In fo2 when I finally gain access to Vault City's vault and donated to the geene pool,
I hope I don't end up finding out that some of that "Donation" turns out to be MY offspring in NV.

Well as long as I have some Red Hats left over.

Well, we could resurrect my idea from one of the several previous relationship idea threads, and make it an authentic Vegas relationship- complete with the sleazy Vegas divorce lawyer and taking half your stuff and your house, and then seeing him/her shacked up in what used to be your house living it up with what used to be your money. :D

I disagree that games have failed in romance storylines, in FO2 we could get married and then pimp out our spouse,
well ratings board today might have a fit today about that, but for example I like the romance options in Mass Effect 2 (even Dragon age I think it was well done) I would love to romance Veronica in NV (I admit it has to do with the voice actor) I think if the player has good speech and Charisma I don’t see why there should not be romance options in NV.

well i dont mean do it like it was in fable 2 becuase i to think it was a pain in the booty to always have to go back and see them and such but more of a understanding wife or something that would add a quest chain to the game or such one who didnt always have to see you after every SINGLE QUEST! prehaps she gets cought and used agaist you to make you do a certion thing? if you chose to care that is...... still a intresting thing to toss around if you would want that option in the game

Wife or husband is not a bad idea but a child seems pointless. They way the in game time passes it would make no sense to have a child.

IMO ME 1 & 2 aren't exactly terrible at this.

To answer the OP. I'd rather not have a family. Perhaps something along the lines of finding a son or daughter I never knew I had, but raising a family? No thanks.

It would be cool though if in the ending monologue, if you got married, it would mention that your progeny grew up to be a great leader of NCR or overlord of Caesar’s legion or something to that effect…
I agree that kid in game would not make any sense though

Yea If it were to show the child in the slideshow at the end or something like that it would be fine.

I doubt having a family would be a good idea anyway, with the enemies we tend to make in Fallout, we might end up with a Mad Max repeat. :cryvaultboy:

No wife, maybe just some "hot coffee" --- Mutie style or maybe a ghoul (not a feral one, I'm not disturbed or anything)

Or worse- they try to do a "we've got your kid, bring 10,000 caps if you ever wanna see'em again" thing. And then you realize the whole "killable children in-game" issue makes the entire concept laughable. "Not paying...and good luck with carrying out your threat on my invulnerable child!" ;)
