Wow I thought i got an awesome game

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:12 pm

When i picked up my New Vegas LCE I thought i got another awesome game like Fallout 3, but now am beginning to be more and more let down (by yet another game). the reason i say this is i stayed up last night till 4am doing different quests leveled up to level 10 with no achievement, modded my weatherd 10mm and got a red square with exclimation point, and no chievos for quests completed ie that lucky old sun and come fly with me, very disappointing bethesda and obsidian

You did get an awesome game. And if you'd read ANY of the topics posted here beforehand, you'd know NOT TO MOD YOUR DAMN 10mm!

Seriously? You're faulting him for not heading to the official game forums as soon as he got his game and reading every post? That's [censored]. He paid for a game that should have been complete. He has a reason to [censored]. He bought something that is half finished and he shouldn't be begrudged for doing something as simple as modding a weapon. It's not his fault the game breaks when it happens. How are we to know?

Because every game based on the Gamebryo engine is completely screwed at launch. FO3 and Oblivion were both worse than this when they came out. Given that history, yes I would expect people to come to the bugs forum first to see what kind problems they can expect to find.

thank you cause this is the third game in 2 months that i bought that is flawed beyond belief crackdown 2 including dlc, and hawx 2 which is good to a point but chievos glitched like mother im tired of buying games that are half done that the developer seems to think patches are the way to complete a game.

I agree, it is not his fault for modding a weapon. That's like saying we put all these new features and special bonuses for people to play the game... but don't use them... cause if you do then the game breaks. He (and I) for that matter paid for a game ... beta tests are usually free and I'm wondering why the game i played for 7 hours before crashing and being unrecoverable wasn't free since it was released basically as a beta.

Either way Bethesda has to do something quick if they do not want to suffer huge damage to their reputation. I have already told my friends to not even buy the game, giving a bit of time before I take it back to store and demand money back.

On the plus side.....maybe Bethesda will pay us for beta testing the game for them? lol

No way...this game is worse than both those games combined. People are losing their save files because they are being corrupted. Fallout 3 was playable as was Oblivion. This is the worst yet.

Please see comment #8 on this post. Softnerd explains better than I could.

I will say this: 19 hrs in, no bugs other than some minor issues w/ loading times in The Strip. Running on 360, this version seems to have the least amount of issues.

What's your problem sir? Are you a company employee or being paid off?

In all of these complaint threads you stick up for the company. They didn't put enough testing hours into this game in order to get rid of these bugs. They sent it out for fans to buy, only for lots of them to be disappointed with what they thought would be a smooth playing game with few glitches. And now when customers complain, you are siding with the company? Why? Again, I ask why? They are selling the games, we buy them. We keep the company in business. They don't pay their own bills with invisible money. They should have fixed these problems before releasing the game. If they knew there were this many issues they should have delayed release.

You, sir, I do not understand. Just because you have had no issues doesn't mean that other people can't get any.

No, I don't work for the company. The reason I'm sticking up for them is simple: they have a good economic reason to get these fixed. If they don't, then sales for the next Fallout will be much worse. I trust them to follow their wallets, that's all. I have no doubt I'm going to see at least one catastrophic bug within the next couple of days. Weathered it for every other game I've ever purchased, I will for this one. Seriously, it's as if the people on this forum have never encountered major game issues before.

Look at this:
http://game-central.org/2009/editorials/top-5-pc-games-ruined-by-bugs/

As a note, two of my top ten are on that list. Bugs come with territory, especially with the exponential increase in programming complexity for modern games. They're not making pong, there are literally MILLIONS of variables and interactions that need to be tracked in a game this large. I would bet that most of the issues we're seeing now were not encountered in the QA process.

EDIT: As an added note, there is not a single piece of major software ever released that wasn't rife with problems after release.

Well sir, point taken into consideration. Simply put, most other customers and I have a problem with them releasing a game that's this buggy and wastes countless hours of gamers time. You, from what I find here, do not oppose the company releasing a game with major glitches. Two view points, I see. I understand your reasoning here but I will not drag out an argument. I find it offensive they did this, but on the other hand you don't. Yeah, if they don't fix it they will lose reputation, customers, and sales. But, in fact, this is already happening as gamers are returning many copies of this game due to it being so messed up. So, what they should have done in the first place is fix it before release and none of these problems would have came to be. In my opinion, that is. From what I gather, you would just rather them release a buggy product and possibly fix it, rather than have further testing for the game.

I don't agree at all, but I see your view.

I DO agree..partway. I'm just saying that it's distinctly possible they didn't see a lot of the major ones until after launch: preorder DLC issues, save game loss, etc. I've worked QA for software before, and you'd be amazed how many issues aren't caught in that phase. My personal beef is with the people who are too busy bashing the game (one of the better ones in the last several years) and the devs (who I firmly believe are doing their best to make this right).

We'll agree to disagree, and I must say I certainly respect you for your excellent argument.

Well, thank you sir! I try to not throw around insults when not needed. I'm not angry at you, I'm angry with the company. Issues with saved game losses and not being able to even continue a game are major bugs that I think should have been resolved before release. The minor glitches I don't care so much about as they will get fixed. But with gamers sinking multiple hours into a game just to be screwed over by a glitch is not good business. I am one of the gamers who is also stuck and cannot, in any way or form, proceed on my game. It really does blow sir.

I won't be playing this game any more today due to frustration with testers and devs not doing their jobs. I may get around to trying it out tomorrow, or maybe next week. If it's not fixed soon my copy will be returned as well.

Ive been looking forward to las vegas but this is quite demoralizing. Ill still get the game and wait for the bug fix updates but you must also consider the people who don't or can't connect to XBOX live. their in a serious situation. I appreciate that it is a huge game but such a huge game the company should make more commitment, get more people to test the game. I just feel sorry for the people who feel like they have been screwed.

The problem is they could have gotten 500 people to test the game for months and still not encountered the bugs and issues that people on here are encountering. I admit, I do not know much about computer programing, but I know enough to know that it is more complex than just "hey Bethesd, you svck, you didn't test your game." That is why I am patient. I bought the game, played it a little bit but haven't encountered an issue. I can't really play until Saturday and I will see then, but I am not going to come on here and rant about programing that I know nothing about.

True, but these aren't 'hidden' bugs or glitches. The problems with this game are apparent from the beginning. It wouldn't have taken hours of QA to discover the problems. If they had taken ten discs and popped them into ten random consoles, they would have realized that the game was far from de-bugged and either delayed the launch or created an immediate patch pre-launch. Or did what they did...release a great game that's almost unplayable (for some of us) due to technical issues.
