WTF?! I need to be online to play?!

Ok I am really pissed off here, even though I have been a several year member of these boards and a major fan of bethesda since morrowind.

At first I just thought we needed steam (and thus the internet) to merely activate the game, but now I see we need to be logged into steam every time we want to play! WHICH IS WHY I HATE STEAM!!! Please tell me why you sold me a F-ing offline PC game that requires me to be online to play it? I hate game companies trying to force Steam down our throats despite it being a crappy service. I have hated Steam since I bought my first (and last) game through them called Trine, and was shocked to discover I couldnt play the game on my laptop unless I had a Wifi connection where I was.

There is ZERO reason to require players to be logged into Steam everytime they wish to play. Is this a F-ing MMORPG or what?! I dont care about stupid achievments and the like being updated on my new devil Steam account. I simple want to play Fallout on my laptop wherever I happen to be, without worrying about having an internet connect present.

You guys better fix this crap!

You only need Steam online to activate it. The rest of the time you can use the "offline mode" of Steam. It's up in the Steam menu in the Steam window.

Lets use http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1122499-why-steam/ for the Steam discussion.
