Seriously, is there nothing you can place that doesn't explode all-over the room when you re-enter it? Just put some armour in an open chest, open it and it's all over the room. Put a candle-stick on a table, come back into the house and it's... somewhere in the house. Never had this problem with Oblivion or Fallout 3 or New Vegas (only if you tried to place something outside) so what gives. Am I the only one that wants this fixing?

I can't say that I've had the same issue. When I put things in the chest, they stay there.

I did have issues in Oblivion, where places items always ended up on the floor eventually. I like how in Skyrim, the game will put books on the shelves for you, as well as weapons and etc.

Wait, by "an open chest", do you mean an actual container, like a chest or barrel? Or do you mean just dropping things into a prop that's shaped like an open box or chest or something?

A prop chest, it was just an example. I put a bowl on the floor and it appeared somewhere else in the house.

They will appear where you first drop them. You have to drop the things you want to place, leave, come back and then place them. Then they'll stay wherever you manage to get them to stay. Sadly, there's no precise way to manipulate objects and they have collision issues (eg. try filling a bowl with gems for hilarious results).
