Backstory


Born and raised in the swampy region of Black Marsh, Merihem didn't necessarily have a tough upbringing, but he was made to work for what he had, often out with his father for days on end been taught about the world around him, profuse with poisonous plants and deadly predators, it was the perfect place for him to learn right from wrong, often hunting game of all sizes with nothing more than an old wooden bow, makeshift arrows and a rusty knife he called a dagger.

Twenty one years after his birth the slave trade within Black Marsh had spread thick and fast and was soon upon his family, ordered to leave by his father to avoid the same fate, Merihem did just that, rather than retreating to Helstrom with his race, he ventured of in an unknown direction with nothing more than the old wooden bow and knife that had seen him through his youth.

After long days walking the rugged terrain and sleeping rough, gone was the endless marshland and dangerous plant life he was used to, instead, snowy tundras, pine forests and arctic plains surrounded him.

"You lost boy" a voice said softly, greeting him, a tall Nordic man in his late sixty's, who to say Merihem was a definite outsider, seemed awfully friendly. After explaining the situation the man offered Merihem some shelter and food, which given his last few weeks, he wasn't going to turn down.

A god awful bang awoke Merihem, everything was a blur, men piled into the building, dressed head to toe in armour donning swords and shields, picking Merihem up from his bed and throwing him to the floor, crawling for the door, he felt a thud on the back of his head, followed by another, and another, then he saw black.

Slowly coming around, Merihem released he had been taken prisoner, and was on the back of a cart, four others in the same situation.

"Where are we going" Merihem slurred

"Helgen" replyed one of the prisoners.....

Brief Description: Ysgramor's father (skallgrim) was born in Riften and was a warrior in the imperial army, he met my char's mother in northern cyrodiil who was a nord working as an apothecary/healer. Father took her to skyrim and started a small village in eastern skyrim where my character was born. He was taught how to fight with axes by his father, and magic by his mother. While out hunting for a creature that had been killing off the sheep in the village my character hears screams off towards the village. He runs back axe raised and ready, he sees the village being razed by a unit from the imperial army. My character fights through the burning village towards his home, killing every imperial in his way. He reaches his home to find his mother dead on the wood pile and sees his father fighting the leader of the imperial soldiers. He tries to go through the burning house to help his father when a beam falls and pins him down, as he struggles to get free he sees the commander bash his fathers shoulder with an ebony mace, while his father crumples he is hit again in the back breaking most of his ribs and puncturing a lung. He keeps struggling when another man from the village comes and helps lift the beam and frees him. Once free Ysgramor runs to the commander axe raised and leaps for a killing blow, the commander is skilled and parries the attack. They exchange blows over and over getting very fatigued in the process, once Ysgramor can barely raise his axe the commander kicks it from his hand and bashes him in the stomach. Ysgramor rolls and gets back to his feet, once he has a little room he grabs 2 small vials from his belt. He takes a swig of stamina draught and mana potion. The commander starts walking over to finish the weakened Ysgramor off. Ysgramor reaches his hand out and sends a torrent of flame at the commander, he then rushes him and slams him to the ground still burning his arm enjoying the screams of pain. He grabs the commanders collar and asks why they were attacked, the commander spits in Ysgramors face. After wiping his face he reaches for the commanders charred arm, grabs it, and rips off a chunk of burned flesh, the commander screams in pain and Ysgramor asks again why they were there. The commander says they went because the emperor believed there was a threat from the voice and that was all he knew. Ysgramor reaches over and grabs the commanders mace and bashes him in the skull. He then takes the mace and vows to use that weapon, and never again use the axes which failed him. He goes to his father who is barely alive and casts a healing spell on him, but it's not enough to heal him completely. They make their way towards the border but his fathers condition keeps getting worse. Near the border his father collapses and whispers that Ysgramor was the threat the emporer was trying to stop, then dies. Ysgramor makes his way to his mothers old village in Cyrodiil to see if he still has some family left. He arrives to find his grandfather is still alive living in a small cabin a small way from the village. Ysgramor stays to recover and lives with his grandfather till he dies four years later. After his grandfathers death Ysgramor decides to return back to his homeland where he is caught near the border.
