Yearning for the Multiple Character Game?

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 6:26 am

I've loved playing Skyrim, Oblivion and FO3, but I kind of wish you could maintain all your characters in some general pile and play multiple at once. Maybe only one would be the dragonborn or maybe not. Maybe you could only play one at a time, but trade items between them so that you could get the strength of a party.

I used to love that about Might and Magic and Wizardry. Maybe one of your PCs would always be primary and you could bring one along as a follower, but one you designed?

I like that idea. Maybe like KOTOR style? Like, you have 3 characters who all run around together, you can control any one of them at any time, and you fully customize them all. That would be cool.

But my guess is that we'd sacrifice some combat quality in order to get that. Not to mention it will never, ever happen.

Plus it might get old.

When I saw your topic title I thought this was a mmo topic and I was ready to reply with a "no no no!" response. But you actually have a much more interesting idea. I'd love to be able to trade items between my characters, and I think the idea of using another character as a follower rocks.

I know what you mean. As a guy with a handful of characters all on the go at the same time I'd love the option to swap them in or out throughout the game. That way you could truly create and specialise certain characters for certain situations. Nice idea.

I like this idea. I almost always make one character for each main quest line and faction and I have always thought that they would all be in the world at the same time, all doing their own respective things. I'm not sure about item trading though, maybe something more along the lines of hidden stashes that you can hide gear in similar to the LoTR games on the gameboy.

You could have it that you can only take one of your made up characters along with you as a companion the same as what happens in the game now. And instead of the rest of your characters just hanging about your house they could just mingle about in one of the taverns like the other mercenaries do in the game.
