So I've been reading posts about other people's thoughts on the ending of the game and I noticed a lot of people thinking that Yes Man would become a sentient machine overlord when he installed his new "more assertive" personality.

I had assumed that it was to fix the little problem that he does anything anybody asks him to. So for instance someone couldn't sneak into the Lucky 38 and say "I don't like how that courier is running things, send your securitron army to go kill him." and yes man would have to obey.

I just want to hear some other people's thoughts on this

Yeah, he's probably gonna' be more assertive and only listen to the Courier rather than listen to everyone around him. This would probably effect his leadership abilities though.

As long as I get to shoot the stupid face off of him and Victor I'm happy.

i liked yes man; dave foley was a great choice and the dialogue was funny.

the two most likely opinions i've read was OP's, that yes man would be able to say no to people (but who told him to upgrade his software?) and that the software is really a mr house program. i tend to lean towards the mr house angle. i'm sure house's probablility tables would have suggested the courier might do something against him, and house would want a back up plan.

I don't trust Yes Man.

But I actually think it's possible fighting Yes Man will be the plot of Fallout 4.

That would be BA. Yes Man was my favorite ending.

Although I hope FO4 isn't in the mojave.

I never trust Yes Man, and when he say he is going to install new personality, I feel bad omen.

I think after his new "personality" is installed, he will not obey to anyone and he might control all Securitron or even all RobCo robot against us.

Since he is the only one who cannot be kill...completely...

He will be the FINAL BOSS

I think he will become somewhat of an advisor to the Courier.

I totally agree. My first playthrough was with Yes Man, and I thought he was indeed going to do just that. Make himself more assertive, like he says he will. It surprised me so many people thought he was going to stab the Courier in the back and become a bloodthirsty Securitron ruler. Although, he does say he found it within Mr. House's files. I wonder why House would bother creating software that would only be used in the event of a system takeover, and his death.

If I really beleived yesman had to say 'yes' to everything asked of him, I'd have sold him to the atomic wrangler for 1000000000caps by now..

House probably ran a program that predicted, to 95% certainty, that his "protege" (Benny/Courier) would stab him in the back and use his own network against him. Therefore he uploaded himself into a program that would be "accidently" found by any machine attempting to take over his network on his death.

I think Yes Man just becomes independent, just like Vegas. Yes Man controls the strip, the securitrons, probably following Mr House's plans, which is why the courier isn't in charge at the end.

However, since Yesman IS now able to access the complete House/Robco/Repconn network, I'm sure there are more secrets waiting: another cache of securitrons, vaults with arms etc.

Well, you may be correct. There are still some mysteries about the extent of House's robotic properties. His picture at Camp Golf shows two giant robot-feet behind him, about the size of Liberty Prime's feet, yet different. Where's this robot?

I think that IS Liberty Prime and is meant to suggest Mister House built it.

In any case, I hope they let the Courier keep New Vegas.

I assumed on my first playthrough that YM would turn out to be manipulating the courier for his own ends. I was a bit disappointed he wasn't, it would have added a lot to the game but I guess it would have made an annoying ending.

To be fair, we don't know how long Yes Man's downtime will be.

It could be a decade.

It is a bit ominous and leading, but to what? I would think his assertiveness while in control of the Securitron army will certianly lead to something but speculation is just that. There's no real way to know until a future date as far as I can see.

When I first talked to Yes Man I thought he was a trap Benny had set and he was going to murder you. So throughout the whole game I thought I was going to get shot by a happy as [censored] robot.

I don't see why people think of Yes Man as someone who is ominous.....he was designed that way by Benny, and was created by a Follower. At the Battle of Hoover Dam, if Oliver *knew*, he could have used Yes Man against you, and your entire empire would have fallen right then and there.

I never thought of that.

Oliver could have just said "Kill the Couier."

I thought Yes Man was programmed to answer any questions, not to obey any commands anybody issues?

More assertive personality: "Oh hi there, how are you doing? You're good at murder, could you murder this bird for me"

I still think it's a failsafe created by House. There's no evidence of this, obviously, but House is too smart (and megalomaniacal) not to have had a contingency plan of some sort in the event of his death.

I half agree with you but look at the death note he wrote for himself just in case. he didn't even finish it.
