Do you collecthorde any items?

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 7:37 am

So this is something I've been wondering about, or maybe just frantically hoping I'm not the only person who has a hording problem pertaining to Skyrim. But anyway, are there any items of any kind that you collect for your house or just to have?

I like collecting rare books and different looking staffs because staffs are keen. And naturally unique armor/items if I can throw them on display in my houses. I also horded lutes on my first save just because I thought they looked cool and bards are pretty awesome.

I tend to try to collect all the separate Divine amulets, but haven't managed to find them all on one character thus far. Ironically, Talos is by far the most common.

I always keep rare or unique items. And many gems and crafting materials.

Everything, and I mean everything. Trying to get all the books, at least two of every weapon, and at least one of every piece of armor and clothing.

I'm a little obsessive.

Because nothing really takes up space once it is put into a container do I collect almost everything.

If I take it out it looks like this:

Anything that's unique or looks nice gets displayed. Otherwise it gets sold.

This is a long super pointless story I wasted typing without realising...

I'm a super horde. I collect everything. I have all my collections set up into catergories. I have a draw for all weapons, a wardrobe for all clothes, an ingredients draw, a book draw, a misc draw, a potions/poisons draw and a food cupboard, I also have a draw for scrolls and another for random junk I'm too lazy to drop. I keep every single enchanted weapon I find on my adventures and I also keep one of every type of regular weapons. Same with clothing. I just dump my ingredients together as I don't use them on my character. I also keep my misc items in a chest. I also store my books because one day I would like to read them all. I usually only read the skill/quest books right away but still store them.

I would like to categorise all my stuff even more but I haven't got enough separate storage. I'd like Swords, Axes, Hammers, Maces and Staves all separated and also into one-handed and two-handed categories. I would separate my armour into Light, Heavy and Cloth. And I'd separate all my found enchanted and non-enchanted as well. I'd have it super organised even though I'd never use any of it. I'd also separate my miscellaneous items into three categories. What I use (soul gems ect), what I was given as a reward from a quest or an item I found that's a collectable, and then the rest into another draw. My books would be separated into what I have read and what I haven't read. And I will stop as you get the idea by now.

While I didn't have a home I was living in the Thieves Guild and storing all my items into a single chest. Just depositing one item took about 3 seconds to load and it got worse. It took forever. And sometimes while depositing all my items into the single draw I'd accidentally put an item I needed into that draw so I'd go into the draw find the item and accidentally press Take All.... And then I had to put everything back... I did this so much.

When I moved into a house even though there wasn't enough draws to categorise into all those separate items at least it didn't take forever to deposit anything. I at least had my inventory menu separated. I just need a bigger house with a tonne of separate storage devices.

The sound of a few thousand items being taken at the same time is horrendous.

As a blacksmith I have a serious hording issue with smithing materials. I use Honeyside as my main "home" and base of operations so all of my items and materials are there, except for my smithing goods. Smithing goods are all at Breezehome. I keep one cabinet near the door filled with all the smithing goods I can use. And on top of that I have completely littered the place with ore and ingots and I even have about 30 or 40 dwarven gyros laying around as well.

I have a few barrels in honeyside that I use specifically as weapon and armor collections. One barrel has one of each type of weapon (crafted by me, with no enchantments, but all are legendary). The other barrel is much the same but contains one of each piece of armor.

All other containers in Honeyside have some massive collection of some type of item. For example, the chest in the bedroom keeps all random weapons, the closet has all random clothing and armor, the end tables are separated into precious gems and jewelery, and the drawers at the foot of the bed has all soul gems filled with souls. I have a large collection of Dibella statues around the home on tables, as well as bust of grey fox and a few claws.

I always clear away anything not nailed down in the original decorations and replace them with my dwemer cups and plates, etc. I have many notes and books also spread around the place. I painstakingly stacked books on the fireplace mantle (not an easy task). And I have about 100 potions and poisons basically just dropped where ever they would stay.

Hoarding is fun. I would like to work on stacking my ingots but I have found it to be a very time consuming process.

I use my empty fire pit in the Breezhome to keep every single skull I can find, then through in a torch or 2 for effect.
There are also a few witch heads in there as well.

I had the same issue but finally got rid of them. I can't remember how I got rid of the wine, but I was able to eat my "toes".

I keep all types of gems, minus soul gems.

I've got around 50+ garnets, 30+ flawless garnets, 20 rubies, 5 flawless rubies, etc, etc.

I made a large gem pile on my table in Breezehome. Only problem is, sometimes I'll come home to them being all over the floor... ):

I blame it on Lydia. She's just jealous of all my diamonds.

I collect books and unique items. My son, on the other hand, collects EVERYTHING. He was moving all of his items from Whiterun to Markarth(sp?) and had 6000 lbs of stuff on him. He tried to take the cart to Markarth and the driver wouldn't take him, so he used a horse to fast travel. When he got to his place in Markarth, it took him 4 hours to place everything in containers because of lag!!!

Oh my god that's massive. Niiiiice.

I was always mulling over the idea of just shoving all the skulls, human and troll, that I can fit in the spare room in Breezehome. It sounds metal but I'm not sure I'd like to deal with cramming them all in there and dashing to get the door shut. Also, it's mad girly but I want to collect butterflies and dragonflies and just fill a room with them. I just thought it'd look pretty.

I'm not as bad as some but I do collect one of every book, hold shield, any Dibella statue, Dwemer dynamo's, claws, jar's with bug's, My thief is taking back all the larceny target's, One of my char's collect's helmet's. gem's but I put them in shallow bowl's or in one case dump all of one type in Dwemer bowl's. Unique weapon's, I roatate them on the plaque's or have them laying on table's. The Ghost Blade look's cool on the plaque. I know my thief has at least 6 or 7 of the different Divine's amulet's.

Now each of my char's collect's different thing's, so that I can get them displayed. Book's alway's!

Lydia is my mages dumping ground for thing's he want's to keep, so that they don't get sold. He doesn't have a house yet... but will be the Markarth house.

Anything unique (there is only 1 of that item), including books and such.

And gems, I never sell them

My last character did something like this too with Dark Brotherhood contracts. He was proud of having survived so many attempts on his life and kept all of them.

Ha, I didn't even think of that. That'd make it way easier/noisier depending which bug in a jar I pick up.
