Do you hate the holidays?

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 4:58 am

I'm trying to get into the festive spirit but for some reason I just find myself being not that festive anymore. Part of me wants to attribute it to having to put my dog to sleep on X-mas Eve though I think that's just me lying to myself. Not a scrooge and still give donations and all but I just seem to be sluggish to put up decorations.

Anyone else feel grumpy about the Holidays or just aren't as festive as they would like to be?

Hate is a strong word. I just don't care.

I sometimes wonder about the aversion to the word Christmas. Anyway, I do feel that there's sometimes far more hassle than seems strictly necessary.

I just treat them as any other day.

Now that my kids are older (17 and almost 16) and I am single I have no real interest in Christmas. We have had a tree up in the house for 7 days now with no decorations yet and the outside lights aren't up, but I should do that today. I would be more than happy to ignore it, but my mom is a huge Christmas person and living only 20 minutes away I can't really get away from it. We have no choice but to go through the hassle of tromping through the farms to cut down our own tree, and spend hours and hours and way too much money shopping for gifts for people who don't need anything. Oh well, as long as someone gets enjoyment out of it.
