So im level 7/8 and ive just gotten around to finishing everything in novac. Have yet to set foot in vegas. I do need to go find that "gun" for that "robot". but its wayyy out of the way.

Well "that gun" is located in novac. So keep looking. :disguise:

Hmm weird. My fiance and I are playing through side by side and we both got it in novac. Go to dinky and take a look around his gift shop

You know you can leave new vegas after going into it .. and then come back .. and then go away again ... going there wont suddenly finish the game

i wasn't paying attention to items around the store to steal, however i did open the door and take all of the rockets. that didn't count as stealing or have any weight even on hardcoe mode.

EDIT: ooooh you mean "that gun" i meant the machine gun you need to get for the robot at the vinnie and vicki casino. i didnt want to put any spoilers

Unfortunately I got tempted and ran for Vegas on level 7. It was hard, but I made it. The Tops was the first casino I decided to go into and I saw Benny, got 1100 exp points, a trophy, and leveled up. I skipped the whole "That-Away" quest before I even began it! I wouldn't suggest running there right away. I reloaded a save so I didn't feel like I cheated myself out of a quest. I'm still stuck with the silver trophy though.

When I play these kinds of games I stay true to the story, not the game mechanics. If the dialogue says I need to hurry before something terrible happens, I hurry, even though I know that the NPC would still be waiting for me unharmed if I did 8 days of side quests on the way to meet them.

If I know where the man who tried to kill me is, and I'm building some notoriety in the territory - they're going to find me if I don't find them and end it first. That's no time to be screwing around with solar panels or launching corpses into orbit or finding missing items for local villagers.
