Do you have a favourite follower?

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 8:26 am

Hey

Ok I wonder, do you have a favourite follower you always have or do you change them often?
If you have one, who and why?
I always have Meeko as a follower, I love dogs and he is quite strong. He killed a dragon alone once :)
I tried alot of followers, but besides Meeko, they all die often or get lost, so I have only meeko most of the time.

At the moment I also have calder as a follower but it wont take long until he gets lost too...

Eola - good with a sword, destruction magic, summons, and can sneak. Plus she is not too bad on the eyes.

Just don't ask her to cook dinner...

lool...
With my first character I also had Vorstag as follower, I also married him.
But it way more relaxing with only meeko, he is fast and don't get lost or stuckt.

So far... I have only had Lydia... twice. (First with my main Thief/Assassin and currently with Mage)
Have not utilized any others, as while I use Lydia to start... it is mainly to get my levels higher so I can go solo without getting squished early on.
Good for carrying things and assisting, but man do they annoy me with attacking when I want to sneak, LOL

The only followers that I've had are Lydia, Argis and one of the dogs. So I can't really say I have a favorite, yet.

Spoiler
Dark Brotherhood Initiates seem pretty useful.

They don't give you lip, they know how to sneak, can kill silently and seem to hold their own in a fight. Still, I tend to take unconventional routes when I'm traveling, so companions in general can't keep up with me with their horribad pathing AI, which is why I don't use them that much.

Lydia... I'm using her as a tank while I'm ranging behind her.

I'm have given Aelo (the female archer in the companions) a though.
Would've been cool to have two archers. Though pretty useless I guess.

J'zargo. I'm Khajiit and would only trust another fellow Khajiit.

This.

I'm not a khajiit, and I don't usually use followers. But I just find that J'zargo is a really fun companion. Also, he has a quest associated with him, so I kinda feel like I know him.

Surprisingly enough I've been pretty satisfied with Golldir as a tank for my character. He only goes up to level 30 so I'll be retiring him soon. He seems to have the highest health of the "free" followers you get for doing favors. Hopefully I'll have the house in Markarth soon and get Argis to replace him (he goes to level 50 and is also a good sword and board tank). I'm pretty cheap so favor-followers, Housecarls and Companions are about all I use.

Yeah, the AI for followers is not great. Can't even remember how many times Lydia jumped in front of me, taking an arrow that was meant for a NPC. Finally changed her settings to "essential" so she doesn't die anymore from my weapons sigh. And the times she can't go over terrain, just awful. Especially if she goes the long way around and brings unexpected company lol.

This^^ And I will have mine rare...

Yes it's Eola, WHEN I have a follower. She is a female that stands like one and she doesn't have that stupid AI, that runs up your ass when you stop.

Erik the Slayer. He's cute, naive, enthusiastic and always seems very happy to be traveling with my character.

I have the same problem, mine also died very fast.
The only exception is meeko, he seems to be very strong and he has less problems following me over mountains than other followers.

Eric the Slayer. Doesn't talk too much, not overly sarcastic, gives the impression of actually wanting to help the PC and enjoys adventuring. The highest level he can go to is level forty, though, and may not be the best tank because he specializes in light armor.

Still prefer him over Argis the Bulwark though, who is more suited for tanking and caps at level 50.

I like him, too. It always feels somewhat awkward though taking him to the Sanctuary or the Flagon.
