...I took the game back today.

I think I was patient enough, waiting two weeks for a patch to make the game playable.

I am an advlt professional -- I don't have a lot of time to play games.

Why should I waste my precious time on this huge disappointment of a game?

Never again will I buy another Bethesda/Obsidian game and I'll advise my friends to do the same.

Im about to do the same. Actually i work at a walmart and now when i see someone buy the game for the 360, i tell them the horror of what i am experiencing. Most think "it wont happen to me" and buy it anyways. But they will see. If beth wants to keep any of there fans, they HAVE to release the patch before the 9th of November. If they dont, i will be wiping my butt with the new vegas disc and playing black ops at the SAME time.

I am inclined to do the the same I.m tying to be patient but seriously wtf. How long are we going to have to wait for a straight answer on news on thier patch . Its like they have run for cover and burried thier heads in the sand hopeing we will just go away and let them keep our money

Their silence is actually very telling. They aren't fixing anything, whether it's due to laziness/greed or just pure incompetence we may never know - but at least now we know not to bother with this joke, fraud company's misrepresented products in the future.

I think a lot of ppl are in the same boat, maybe if there was a little more communication on the devs part we wouldnt feel in the dark as much. It is a shame though given all the hype this game generated. Eventually I feel it will be a good game but who knows how long thatll take

yeah I think they are shooting themselves in the foot by not saying anything at the very least they are seriously damageing thier reputation and credibility unless something is forthcomming very soon
i expect many people will try to return the game and most likely refrain from buying thier games in the future

People keep saying stuff like this, but it sadly isn't true. This isn't the first broken game Obsidian has developed - every game they've ever made (I am not exaggerating, literally all of them) has been a broken, buggy mess. They continue to get tons of business.

The same is true, albeit in a lesser scale, for Bethesda.

Neither ever fixes their games yet they both keep making money.

I will wait till the end of the week to call Amazon and see what I can do also.

There are far too many other games coming out very soon, to be ticked off by a company that has put out garbage before, only to add a patch to make it pristine.

So, I will play one of my others on hard/insane mode, and get some achievements and move on.

What evidence do y'all have that the bugs are not being addressed?

after what happened with KOTOR2(certainly the last hour or so) i thought Obsidian would of learnt their lesson,i will certainly think twice if i buy another Obsidian game now

I do not understand how they can expect people to put time into this bugfest knowing all the hours playing, carefully progressing your character, exploring everywhere, can be wiped with a corruption bug wiping all your saves. Start a new game, I don't think so. Wait for the patch without anyone giving us updates, I don't think so. I think my best option is to try and return this and get my money back. I feel we were taken advantage of. All future dealings with Beth/Obs will be after carefully researching their releases. No more pre-order here.

I don't exactly know why, but I bought the game anyway. I still haven't completly finished Fallout 3 (still have the DLC's to do), so I can be patient.
The thing that worries me is the lack of informations and updates coming from them. I have F1 2010, another buggy game, but Codemasters took
the time to inform us of the progress of the patch. It is just now coming out, it's been a long wait (1 month I think) but they kept us INFORMED.

Agree with pretty much everyone's posts above me. We are the forum posters. WE ARE THEIR FANS. If their fans are this bitter, it cant be doing wonders for their business.

Exactly, we're the people who cared enough to make an account, log on, try to help by pointing out what's broken (albeit with a lot of exclaimation marks sometimes), etc.

Communication is important in anything, and the lack of updates on the progress is almost a bigger issue than the fact that it's bugged to all hell.

If they were giving us daily progress reports I'd be a much happier camper.

Takes 5 minutes and there'd be a lot less pissed off people.

Is everyone really being big babies over this? You put your errors on the forums, sent Emails, did what you could. I'm sorry that a game we all bought wasn't perfect. Games just aren't that way anymore. That's why you can make a game in 3 years as opposed to 5 or 6. Bethesda has come along way, and I have been an avid fan since the Eschelon days. If any of you bastards remember that game, then you can complain. Seriously, games have been more broke then this. This game world is too huge not to have bugs. Yeah, you can get all hot headed from reading this. That's fine. I don't have that DLC error, so I guess I don't know the true horror of that error. But really? [censored]ing helps no one, and the good folks at Bethesda and Obsidian didn't straight up punch your mom or kick your dog... They'd lose too much Karma for that

I do think this is a bug affecting a fairly minor amount of users. The reason it seems so expansive is because, obviously, once someone hits the bug they're going to come online and say something, whereas for most of the people who are playing without an issue aren't on the forums.

I'm not saying this bug is in any way acceptable, I'm just saying there might just be a few bizarro ways to trigger it that weren't caught by the playtesters. Figure a couple hundred playtesters vs. the thousands upon thousands of players now playing it in various different ways and millions of combinations are bound to come across some weird bugs. This can also cause it to be very difficult to duplicate.

I'm mostly on here because I haven't hit the bug yet, and hate being paranoid about possibly hitting it, so I'm keeping my eye out for nay news on updates. I know a lot of people here are justifiable upset, but Obsidian IS working on it.

also took my game back today for a refund. might buy it again if the problems are ever fixed. everyone i know who works in game have been advising their customers away from fallout and towards fable. poor patch support and poor development in general. will wait to read the reviews and forums before i buy from any games from both bethesda or obsidian in the future.

Which is funny because I've been reading Fable 3 has a pretty big game breaking bug as well. Fable 2 was a buggy mess as well that STILL isn't fixed.

when you put into the context of a) is the amount of pain and real frustration more than the amount of fun that i'm having playing this game something that I care about (if someone were to say no then......well that just speaks that they really don't care about anything)? which leads to B) wait, I paid top pricing for this game, I bought a product and it has many problems, this was obviously rushed and haphazard. which then you have to wonder if this was a car, could i drive it knowing that I was safe? and the unequivocal answer would be no. You paid 35 thousand for a flaming, death dealing )to your self) pinto, because the guy that ran into you is nice and peachy in his flower in the cup dash VW bug, safe and secure. i want to be safe and secure, i returned my RENTED game, got the refund, wrote an angry letter, drank a beer, went to sleep. done

Just for the record, I'll buy broken fallout over gay fable (1,2 or 3).

I'm waiting to start the game until after a new patch. Lucky for me there's tons of other stuff I still need to play. I believe they will fix NV up and as soon as they can.

yes, i had high hopes for this game, but after 24/25 of my game saves have corrupted killing close to 50 hours of my gameplay. this will be the last game i buy by bethesda/obsidian.

Fable 3 was garbage. I Gamefly'ed it, beat it in two days, and sent it back so Black Ops will ship come the 9th. Those games are getting progressively worse. As far as RPGs go, I just want NV fixed, already.
