You know whats wrong with Skyrim these days?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 1:04 am

I hate mages. The way they can backpeddle across the landscape at full speed while casting destruction spells and healing themselves. You have to hope they bump into a terrain feature to slow them down enough to hit them..You finally get a chance to swing at them if that happens..and next thing you know they have managed to strafe around and behind you by the time your character has raised their weapon up.

They are such a pain in the butt.Hate em :stare:

Those are the times I'm glad I'm a Block user. I just ambush behind a corner or teleport close to them, bash them, and make some mage chopped.

I am shelled in heavy armor and slow as a turtle. Nevertheless, I find enemy
mages rather easy. However, I find them incredibly hard when you encounter them with a full diversive party, like warriors supporting them.

Guess it's a good idea to flee, at least sometimes...

You have just offended Devani Telvayn, Arch Mage of The College of Winterhold.

Please, expect a delivery of angry atronachs in the next few days.

At this point I'm glad when I run into those situations. The other day I got killed multiple times by a Vampire wearing glass armor by the Western Watchtower. It was the first time in a long time that I actually had to think my way through a battle and do things differently.

Hate em.it's good that they keep you on your toes, but as a recent example i was fighting a pyromancer and by the time my charatcer raised their sword they had run off to the side 20 feet away and were just jacking me up.They almost force you to take traits up to Block Runner.Stupid magic users..just die beneath my cold steel. If not now you will die upon a reload

I'm a mage, so enemy mages don't bother me....sometimes...lesser wards and other wards get annoying very fast. It's swarms of melee enemies who decide my companion is not good enough and I have five guys on me. And I cannot use my shouts because my companion is in the way and I'll kill my companion.

The problem with Skyrim is that everyone is obsessed with death :P

Every time I walk out of a town or a cave someone is there to kill me. Why can't we pick flowers together and ride dragons for once? :(

Once you aquire the "Become Ethereal" Shout you can gingerly jog up to them and stuff your sword in their face.

Quoted for truth. Especially when they ambush you cause you were not really paying attention; just moving from one place to another.

Well, his (or hers) name certainly leaves little to imagination

Anyway, NPC mages are indeed extremely dangerous. You need to close in fast (sprint or Whirlwind Sprint) prevent them from casting spells (bashing, paralysis poisons/magic/powers, shouts) and beat them down before they can recover. Or use stealth and kill them before they see you. Also resist element and magic gear and potions are helpful.

For my current character the method is: hide, cast fury, watch the fireballs fly, repeat if necessary, finish off who's left, loot the bodies :hehe:

Sounds like you're lacking in magic resistance as I never seem to have that problem with mages. Archers on the other hand!

Does no one use shouts? Whirlwind sprint up to them, use the ethereal shout, ice form or the good old FusRoDa to send them on their butt.

Mages doesn't really bother me, we are given enough tools to handle them in form of Shouts and terrain. A mage that backpeddle you either have to use whirlwind shout, or do the same yourself so you lure him against you. It wouldn't make sense if a mage stood still and just took the beating you gave him so as it is now it means you have to use some tactic and plan the fight a bit more.

Yeah and that lightning spell's just ridiculous isn't it. One or two shots from a hundred feet away... dead. Can't miss.

You can easily outmove them and close the distance. By applying a slow or paralysis poison to your weapon, they can′t run away from you anymore.

Better yet, you can take on the block perk that allows you to block 50% of magic damage, and wear armor that heightens the elemental defense, and viola' Mage soup: Just add war-hammer!

...And even if they slow you down with frost bolts just sprint and whack away to your heart's content!
