You'll know it when it happens *BUG*

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 1:52 am

I was told to report to Ranger Grant, and when I talk to him he just says we have a lot to do and my only reply option is "Goodbye". He then says "bye" in a weird voice, like he's darth vader in power armor talking to me through a radio. This is completely game breaking for me right now. Suggestions?

I have the exact same problem with his talk tree only says "Goodbye"... I went back and talked to the Colonel and she sent me back up, I went to earlier save games, nothing.

I have a very similar problem on my game, but I've already finished the "You'll Know It When It Happens" quest, but later I received a quest to protect the president.... after I already did. I have a post about that on the front page of the forums as well....

I don't know how to help...

just go around the desk so you can get close to him and he will talk to you without you clicking on him. (I just did that quest not even 10 min. ago)

If you're playing the PC version you can open up the command console with ~(tilde) and then click on Ranger Grant so that it has his name displayed at the top of the screen. Then type "moveto player" (without quotes) and he should warp to you. Once you take a step back he should restart his script and move into the proper position behind the desk and when you approach him he will initiate conversation automatically.

I had the exact same problem you guys are having and this is what fixed it for me.

Lemon's tip - I got close, even pushed him around the room, nothing.

Mister44 - Thanks for the technical help. I tried it several times... he doesn't move back to the desk, he doesn't auto-respond, and he still only offers "Goodbye"

I found this PC solution online and it worked for me.

Approach Grant and hit ~ to enter the console. With the mouse, select him so that his name appears at the top of the screen.
type "disable" (no quotes), hit return. Then type "enable" hit return. close the console.
Grant should now have his dialogue reset and he will approach you to start the quest.
