Do you make your character unique?

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 2:09 pm

Do you have a character do anything strange or use a weird out of place perk or skill just because you want to?

An example I do is, I made an Orc two handed warrior with archery but I use conjuration and the bound bow is the only bow I use. I most of the conjuration spells also though. One reason I do this is because I think its cool and I dont like the look of arrows or a bow on my back.

Not exactly out of place... But I have given my Bow Wielding and Two-Handed weapon wielding characters a couple of Blocking perks. So that they can butt enemies with their weapon in close quarters, while trying to block an enemy attack.

I have a mage that doesn't use destruction. Conjuration, healing on my companions, buffs and mellee.

I dont really have many perks in odd places for any of my characters, my Nord has a perk in Speechcraft but only because I picked taht perk by accident as I didnt know what speechcraft was like. As for my Bosmer she doesnt have any perks that are out of place, though she does go to the inn in every town she visits and drops a gem on the floor.

I know, that's an anomaly. Even the altmer gal at the Colledge is quite rude.

Dude! There's being different and then there's just plain being out of character... ;)

I consider each and every one of my characters to be unique. Each one is created with a different look, background story, personality and skill/perk selection.

As far as selecting perks that might be out of place for that particular type of char...Well, although I have never nor will I ever classify any of them as a Thief, I do forego 5 perks in the Pickpocket tree. Perfect Touch is just fun to use, as a novelty.

Interesting. Do you level up conjuration when you use that bow?

Unique? That's nearly impossible. Instead of trying to be 'unique' I try to role-play.

My Skyrim characters are the weirdest group of people you'll ever see :P It's like someone took all fantasy literature stereotypes and threw them out the window.

J'derras doesn't partake in the Sugar. Though he will use it in alchemy because he believes the standard effects of it are burned out of the mixture (like alcohol).

Alchemy is basically chemistry. The reactions that bring out the effects of ingredients change the substances themselves. That's the entire concept of alchemy, making something into something else by combining two different things.

Even if your statement was true, J'derras never said he drank the moon sugar with other ingredient potions he made, he had his Breton friend test them for him to test J'derras' hypothesis.

I have a Nord warrior who has never stolen anythign in his life and would not even think about joining the thieves guild, but he is training pickpocket to 50 so he can get the extra pockets perk. My roleplay rational is that he could pay someone to train him to be more agile and therefore better able to carry a heavy load.

Appearence wise, yes. Skill wise? no. Skyrim just doesn't feel built for that.

Ditto. Given that there's no way to even express personality with the ridiculously limited NPC reactions.

I tried a bosmer with heavy armor, dual wielding a hammer with no stealth or archery. I didn't play that one for very long

Huh, I can not see any way of having a unique perk.

Though you can say I'm unique by collecting the corpses of other people & storing them in my basemant.

LOL! :D

My bosmer is a vegetarian. She's not welcome at the Drunken Huntsman anymore. It's annoying having to use invisibility to dial-up Janessa, but ... whudeverrr.
