Because they're vampire hunters. If you looking for someone to blame, then blame the Vigilant of Stendarr your "werewolf/everything" hunters.

I blame the Vigilant of Stendarr for everything wrong in the world.

Keeping wild animals as pets is a good way to get mauled. Just ask Sigfried and Roy.

Since every faction in Skyrim consists mostly of idiots who can only survive if the Dovahkiin shows up, Dawnguard wouldn't be able to handle the majestic creatures of Hercine too. And in all seriousness, the Silver Hand and Vigils of Stendarr are enough trouble for our kind.

And we don't want to enslave every living beeing on Nirn, that probably helps too.

PS: Is it just me or does the whole vampire vs werewolf thing here becomes something like an evil dark version of Team Edward and Team Jacob?

Um, wasn't it the vampires that sparkled?

Either way, my werewolves are generally inactive in nature. I might just have to take one of them into werewolf form to tear apart a vampire lord. I just hope they taste better than they look.

No, no no no no. No.

These are REAL vampires and werewolves we're discussing. Not oversized dogs and sparkling apple catching pedophiles.

Dawnguard is a faction, the vampires seem to be in some kind of cult now and the werewolves are basically the companions' "pure bloods" and the wild ones. Seems pretty balanced to me. And the pure blood werewolves hide their secret life pretty good by being a part of a larger group.
Besides, who wants to hunt werewolves? We are so cuddly and cute. And monstrous beasts who hunt down humans and eat them, but still cuddly as hell.

And I'm aware that it's not Twilight, thank god for that. But it still reminds me of those strange "teams". Now we just need some zombies (draugr), robots (dwemer constructions) and ninjas (Blades? nah, too stupid) and I'm officially having a nerdgasm over here.

My guess is that everyone can join any side they want. Maybe there'll be a speech check or something.

It's not Bethesda's style to lock players out of content.

But they made it where you couldn't equip the Divine Crusader's stuff with just a bit of infamy, and that expansion was entirely biased towards a good morality character.

I don't know myself how they will handle it, but I can't really see a werewolf character fitting into the vampire faction or a vampire char in the Dawnguard thing. What do you do as a werewolf in the bloodsvcker club? "Yeah, I'm totally into Molag Bal and all, but about that turning into a vampire lord thing... I'm kind of resistant to any desease and all... so... can I still join?"
Although it would be tempting to go all M. Night Shyamalan on the Dawnguard guys by revealing the plot twist of beeing a vampire all allong during the final quest.

But they made it where you couldn't equip the Divine Crusader's stuff with just a bit of infamy, and that expansion was entirely biased towards a good morality character.

Which was a complete and utter mess in my opinion. I liked that armor but you couldn't wear it as soon as you stole an apple from a merchant.

Personally, werewolves aren't as big a blasphemy as vampires. Werewolves are indeed abominations that mock Kynareth, but they are more akin to beasts than monsters.

Back to the point, I don't think the Dawnguard will actively hunt werewolves. Infact, I'm willing to bet there's at least 1 within their ranks.

I hope you're right but I doubt it. You can't even complete the Companions quests unless you become a werewolf.

So long as you don't wolf out in the Dawnguards presence why would they care? But if you do transform in front of them they'll be hostile like everyone else.
The only way I can see one the Dawnguard knowing your a werewolf otherwise is if one of the members used to be one of the companions and carries the beast blood.

I'm pretty sure the dawnguard could wipe the floor with werewolfs easy..just snap a sliver arrow on too that cross bow and bang you just made 100 coins at a local market.
By your logic the vampires should die just as easily because they're vunerable to silver too.

They forgot to install all the surveillance cameras in the cities, so they had to rely on the guards for intel.
