I voted no. I chose this option because we are talking about the originators of PC FPS here.

We have large format display or multiple monitors so WE can see our game in the big picture. If OUR friends want to play us, they can bring their PC over or meet at a LAN to play Co-Op or VS.

@ Honkey Kong
Considering the Tech 5 engine was developed primarily to blur the lines between PC and console gaming (look ma, no ports!), i would say YOU have a poor outlook on what Id is trying to do for ALL of its fans.
I dont think it would be too difficult to accomdate everyone. theres no need to be a [censored]

I voted maybe (doesnt look like it showed?)

As a sperate mode, split screen can be fun for local play without needing another console or PC in order to do so..... and if it was added as a mode, if you dont want it, no one forces you to use it.

While I was extremely pleased when it became known that http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1170582-great-news-2-player-split-screen-will-be-included/, I never really seen Rage as a split-screen game. I would certainly not mind having support split-screen in the game, but it's something I feel I would never use so it doesn't really bother me.

It would be nice if it was there for those who want it, though :)

I disagree.

I prefer playing games alone considering some of my friends are bad losers (I am to) so it doesn't really work out well. I voted no but I wouldn't care if it was there, I just wouldn't use it.

I also find split screen to be awful in many games, making it looked squashed. (Such as CoD World @ War-Black Ops and several other games I can't think of

no, the point of a FPS is to have a shooter thats from a first person perspective.

Though its a bit older, Battlefront had split screeen. that game is still awesome as [censored]. Halo, also had splitscreen

really though.. Its not like if they put split screen in the game as an option you have to use it.
key word: option

sometimes, just sometimes, you dont want to have to jump online to wait in a queue and play complete strangers..
Sometimes, you have actual friends that come to your house and you hang out and play games.

When you're 40 years old, what is it that you're gonna remember from your experience with video games? Will it be the memory of that epic kill you once did or the fact that you did it with your best friend next to you laughing your asses off?

A gaming experience for me is always at least two times more fun when you do it with a friend. That's my point, but all of you have valid input.

But remember, this game was made by the same people that created Borderlands, which (in my opinion) was an awesome co-op experience. And what's the harm of implementing it?! It's not like you would be forced to play the entire game in split-screen, Jeez.

Borderlands was developed by Gearbox Software using the Unreal 3 engine

RAGE is being developed by id software and it uses the id tech 5 engine

There's no connection between the two studios.

Oh, sorry, thought I read somewhere about that...

Well, regardless of my rather serious blunder (please try to forgive me...please), you do get what I mean, right? You understand my general "gist" or what have you, correct? If not, I would be happy to clarify.

I could not agree more with you, playing co-op with a friend over a microphone is nothing compared to having a good time with a bud at your side playing split-screen.

Battlefront is still the [censored] I dont care what people think, I was very happy when a 3rd was coming, then with more research I found out that the company was shut-down and battlefront was lost, and It was still a complete game ready too be launched :(

Honestly, I don't see why more games include split-screen gameplay. PS2 games almost always has 2-player split-screen of some sort, and I get really pissed when awesome games focus to damn much on online.

First of all, I'm sure the OP intended for this kind of thread to be one where people post on here to only support this feature, and not have guys saying "yeah, I only want me to play on my screen, so I'm against this idea". I say that because there is no reason for people that are not in favor of this to be against it. If they do add a split screen feature to this game, it will not deter anybody's game play experience whatsoever. Nobody will be forcing split screen upon everybody, it will only be there for the people that would like to use it.

This is something that will only benefit some players, but in no way harm others. So with that being said, I feel that there's no reason for anybody to oppose this idea. I'm certain the game will ask if you want to do split screen, and when it does - and you don't want to play in that mode - simply select "No" and all will be well. Pretty much, what CannibalClub has been saying.

With all that being said, I'm all for this feature. :)

i thought the whole point of FPS games was to NOT know what the other guy is doing? keep it online for me. nothx.

I just wanted to add to my previous thoughts on this.

FPS should not just be about online deathmatch/capture the flag type of play when it comes to multi-play...
Games like MW2 are the worst for this. Incredibly short and simple game for campaign mode.. the only reason the game would be worth the money is if youre playing online.
It's completely useless as a stand alone game. This trend needs to stop. If devs wnat to make games that focus on online play, thats cool- i'm not necessarily knocking the fanbase or that market, but there should be a division in the game genere to reflect it. Like calling them MMOFPS or something.

The genre of FPS is never taken seriously and commonly bashed in the gaming community because of dumbed down online arena games.
It doesnt have to be that way. It hink this game wll be a great example that you can have great content, while enjoying a first person perspective.

Why tha hell not? Am I the only one who likes playing with my real friends?

Seriously, it's okay for online multiplayer but not okay for the traditional couch co-op?

Of course it's OK.

I dont play on the easy setting for any games..
At the same time, i dont care if its there, because it doesn't effect me unless i chose for it to as an option.

I still don't get why people "dont want"
You may not use it, but there's no legitimate reason to not want it as an option.

I challenge any of the "dont want" crowd to try and give one.

Yes, why, there is no better feeling that pushing your friend over(real life) and then shooting his face off (in game). lol. But also all the team work for a ''quests'' or ''short missions'', is also verry satisfying.
